Between the invasions on RAW and Smackdown and the upcoming War Games event, NXT has been keeping quite busy. But with their first Takeover: War Games on the horizon, NXT begins to fill out its card with some exciting matches. Today we see who the captains of the teams choose.

NXT last week finished with a big brawl between the majority of the top women of the brand. It broke out after Asuka and Kairi Sane successfully retained the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Because of this William Regal scheduled a Women’s War Games match featuring the captains of NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler and the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley. Today, on WWE’s The Bump, the first two competitors to join Team Ripley and Team Baszler were announced.

First, for the NXT Women’s Champion’s team, the impactful Bianca Belair and the ‘Joshi Judas’ Io Shirai have been selected. An interesting choice as the champ has defeated both these women one-on-one previously for the title.

And for Rhea’s team, Tegan Nox, and Candace LeRae has been chosen. Tegan and Ripley have already shown some dynamic teaming after beating Fire & Desire last week during the invasion of Smackdown. For Candace, she continues to build her resume, and her case, for the top spot in the NXT Women’s division.

It was also announced that the champ Shayna Baszler will face some early retribution as she will go head-to-head with Dakota Kai, tonight in a rematch from almost 2 years go in Atlanta, before Shayna’s dominance over the division began.

We are sure to get more matches announced for NXT Takeover: War Games when they go live at 8 pm on the USA Network. As always, Pro Wrestling Post will have any breaking news for you in the meantime.

    Caul’s Call

Meshing storylines with the interactions as NXT make a great choice on both sides for Team Baszler vs. Team Ripley. I fully expect after the match tonight, Dakota Kai gets added to Ripley’s team while either Kairi Sane or Asuka, depending on if they are on the European tour with RAW, will be added to Baszler’s squad. We will find out tonight.

How did we get here? Check out the epic brawl of the NXT women’s division from last week’s edition of NXT on the USA Network, which includes a feverously William Regal making the historic announcement.
