Friday Night Smackdown begins with a reminder of King Corbin promo from last week. It is followed up by highlights of the matchup between Corbin and Roman Reigns and the involvement of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. Reigns lost leaving the big dog to look on while Corbin celebrated. The show emanates from Wells Fargo Centre from Philadelphia, Pennslyvania. On this night Daniel Bryan will be a guest on Miz TV. Corbin was carried to the ring on a chair. In the ring, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode joined Corbin as he addressed the audience. Corbin antagonizes the crowd and calls himself a great leader. He continues to rundown Roman Reigns and that it is his kingdom.

Corbin declares himself the team Smackdown leader. King Corbin says that there are two men that both Mustafa Ali and Shorty G shouldn’t be on the team. To that Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode felt that they should be named to the team instead. Roode said they would right the wrong on this night. Both Ziggler and Roode would face G and Ali with the winner going in instead. This brings out Roman Reigns at the very least a guy in a dog costume. Corbin directs the ‘dog’ to seat in the middle of the ring.

After the commercial break, we see the recent announcement of the CM Punk making his debut for WWE Backstage on FS1.

    Well, that was interesting.

Shorty G and Mustafa Ali vs Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

This match is set with the stipulation being the winners are a part of Team Smackdown for Survivor Series. Shorty G and Ali are currently a part of the team. However, if they lose they could lose their spot on Team Smackdown. Early on in the match, Shorty G has the advantage. Ali is tagged in the match and he maintains control of the match. An assortment of moves by Ali throughout puts him at an advantage over Ziggler. Roode is eventually tagged into the matchup. The duo of Ziggler and Roode maintain the advantage. With the referee distracted, Ziggler decked an unsuspecting Ali who was on the mat.

Corbin distracts Ali who he hit from behind on the apron. Ali comes crashing down on the announce table. At this time, Ali is mocked by Corbin and the ‘big dog’ mascot. This brings out Roman Reigns marching to the ring. Corbin holds out a scepter to keep Reigns at a distance.

After the commercial break, while the action is taking place in the ring, Corbin and Reigns are exchanging words. We see Ali catch Ziggler with a superkick. Once the tag is made to both Shorty G and Roode, Shorty G maintains the advantage. G hits a moonsault on a fallen Roode. He then puts the anklelock on Ziggler. Roode comes in and stops the submission attempt. Roode then appears to ask for Corbin’s scepter which is odd because it is right in front of the referee. At this time Reigns, decks Corbin but then Roode and Ali get involved. Inside the ring Shorty G hits a German suplex followed up by a 450 splash by Mustafa Ali. Ali makes the pin for the 1…2…3.

Winners: Shorty G and Mustafa Ali

We then get highlights of The Fiend’s attack on Daniel Bryan from last week. Wyatt appears from the set of the Firefly Funhouse. He also ‘transforms’ the WWE Universal Championship from red to blue. Wyatt says he’ll be watching MizTV and said that ‘he’ will be watching as well.

Backstage Ziggler and Roode tell Corbin to ‘fix this’ referring to both men losing and not qualifying for Team Smackdown.

Braun Strowman confronts Drew Gulak and The B-Team
Gulak goes on the microphone. He has a meme of how he would save Team Smackdown if he replaced Strowman. The three men attack the monster among men. Strowman fights back and then begin to lay waste to each man. He eventually wipes out Curtis Axel in the process.

We then get Kayla Braxton backstage speaking to the New Day about whether they can retain without Xavier Woods. Kingston says even though Woods isn’t there in body he is in their heart and spirit.

After the commercial break, Daniel Bryan is confronted backstage by Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura about where he stands about being with them. Bryan says that he doesn’t need their help, in particular, asking Zayn why he ran if he had his back last week. Daniel Bryan suggests that Braun Strowman should be the guy that Zayn manages. Zayn said that Strowman offers nothing of value to him. At this point, Strowman appears and Zayn begins to backtrack.

The New Day vs The Revival

With the New Day already in the ring, The Revival make their way to the ring. As the bell rings, Dawson and Wilder gain the advantage on Kofi Kingston. Dawson puts Kingston on the top turnbuckle but Kingston hits him with a dropkick. After cutting the ring in half, Wilder takes down Kingston. After the commercial break, both Wilder and Kingston wipe each other out. Dawson makes the tag in and cuts the ring in half on Kingston. Once Big E is tagged in the ring he tosses Wilder all over the ring. Dawson is then tagged in but Big E catches him with a uranagi. Wilder is then tagged in and hits a tornado DDT. He then tries to make the pin but only for a count of two.

Both men collide in the middle of the ring and try then to make the tag into the match. Kingston and Dawson make their way back in the ring. Kingston hits a reverse over the top rope backsplash. They attempt the Midnight hour but Dawson breaks that up. Scott Dawson then hits a DDT and a pin but only for a count of two. They attempt a DDT between the ropes but Big E reverses it. Kofi attempts a leap over the top rope to take out Dawson and Wilder outside but he’s caught and tossed into the ring post. The duo then catch Big E and drop him back first on the announce table.

Dawson and Wilder hit the shatter machine but Kingston breaks up that pin as well! With all four men down, Adam Cole and Roderick Strong pull Kofi Kingston out of the ring and proceed to beat him down. The referee then calls for the bell.

    Winners: No Decision

On the other side of the ring, O’Reilly and Fish hit a high/low on Dash Wilder. Back in the ring, all four men beat down on the two tag teams. As soon as the Smackdown locker room come down to the ring, the Undisputed Era retreat.

Heavy Machinery vs Kip Stevens and Kevin Tibbs

The bell rings and Otis stacks both men. He then tags Tucker and both men suplex their opposition. Tucker wipes out both men with a crossbody and then a splash. He follows up with a corner splash. After tagging in Otis he does his caterpillar and then elbow drop. They hit the compactor and make the pin for the count of three.

    Winners: Heavy Machinery

Cole and Graves share the attacks by both Bayley and Shayna Baszler on one another. Whether it was on Smackdown last week or Raw and NXt this week the fight has been on. Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Sasha Banks and Bayley discussing Shayna Baszler. They also discuss how Nikki Cross has no chance tonight in her match against Sasha Banks. A win for Cross will mean she will have a spot on Team Smackdown.

Next week, Ali, G, and Reigns will face King Corbin, Ziggler, and Roode.

    Bayley vs Nikki Cross

With Cross waiting in the ring, Bayley makes her way down for the matchup. Bayley makes her way to the ring. Once the bell rings, Bayley initially brings the fight to Cross. However, Cross stops her and whips her outside the ring. While outside the ring, Bayley regains the advantage. It is just then when Shayna Baszler appears at ringside. Bayley retreats out of the ring. She climbs over the barricade and appears to try and escape through the ring. The only problem is she is stopped by Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox, Mia Yim, and Dakota Kai.

With Baszler not paying attention, Banks decks her from behind. This upsets the women’s NXT Team on the outside. All four women climb into the ring and the rest of the Smackdown women’s team make their way out. Banks tell them if they want the spotlight then let’s fight now.

    Winner: No Contest

We aren’t sure necessarily if that was the match result. However, Nikki Cross joins the match challenge by Sasha Banks as part of the ‘team. Maybe she won by disqualification? Although it was Bayley that was hit so technically she should have won.

Sasha Banks, Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke, and Carmella vs Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox, Rhea Ripley, and Mia Yim

After the commercial break, all eight women contest against each other. Carmella and Yim have an exchange in the ring. Yim eventually gains the advantage and tags in Tegan Nox. Dakota Kai is then tagged so we believe except for the failed pinning attempt. Banks is eventually tagged into the match. Eventually, Rhea Ripley is tagged into the match. She and Banks exchange words in the middle of the ring. Sasha attempts a Banks statement but Ripley rolls through it. At one point all eight women end up in the ring, talking trash with each other.

Ripley and Cross go at each other. Ripley tags in Kai. Brooke, Yim, Nox, and Banks all end up in the match. Kai catches and unsuspecting Banks with a kick. Cross hits a purge neckbreaker on Kai. She makes a pinfall and a count for three.

Winners: Sasha Banks, Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke, and Carmella

Daniel Bryan appears on Miz TV and is as always grilled. Bryan is quick to share that he thinks Miz TV sucks and has always sucked in response. The Miz shares on Miz TV that he and Bryan have never gotten along. As soon as Bryan was becoming more passionate and sharing his ‘mental instability’ it would be him.

Miz TV is then interrupted by Bray Wyatt addressing Daniel Bryan. At one point, Wyatt shares ‘he never forgets’ that could be a reference to their last feud with one another. While Miz TV continues to take place, as it is decided that Daniel Bryan ultimately will face The Fiend, Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship.
