Emergence 2022 Preview

On August 12^th, 2022, the wrestlers of IMPACT! will face off against one another for legacy at the monthly special, Emergence 2022, on Friday night. The show features four title matches, an array of grudge matches, a war of factions, and a technical war for the world championship. Here’s what you can expect from IMPACT Wrestling this Friday night on Pay Per View.

Sami Callihan vs Steve Maclin

During the brutal Clockwork Orange House of Fun match at Against All Odds 2022, Steve Maclin attacked Sami Callihan to allow Moose to pick up the win. Despite Moose’s reluctance to form an alliance with Maclin, the Death Machine has had his sights fully set on trying to destroy the man that cost him a grudge match against his enemy.

So, will Sami Callihan use his violent ways to get his revenge? Or will The Trademark ward off the Death Machine? Find out this Friday night at Emergence.

Rosemary and Taya Valkyrie (c) vs. VXT (Chelsea Green and Deonna Purrazzo)
(Knockouts World Tag Team Championship)

Despite being seen as the ‘odd couple’ in the company, Rosemary and Taya Valkyrie managed to silence their doubters by winning the Knockouts tag titles at Slammiversary 2022. At Emergence 2022, they will make their second defense or the championships against the dominant VXT.

The duo of Green and Purrazzo has been dominating the division, including a win over Mickie James and Mia Yim, to earn their shot at the titles. Both teams have a mission to place themselves at the top of the Knockouts tag team division, and this Friday, one will prove this and become champions.

Chris Sabin and Kushida vs. Violent By Design (Deaner and Joe Doering)

Violent By Design made their presence known when they attacked Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin after their classic on the July 21^st edition of IMPACT Wrestling, which the debuting Kushida halted. As well as this, on the August 4^th edition of IMPACT Wrestling, VBD laid out the Motor City Machine Guns after losing to the TNA legends and the Time Splitters.

Later in the show, it was announced that Sabin and Kushida would team up to take on the VBD forces. Deaner and Joe Doering look to destroy the best in IMPACT Wrestling, and the next on the hit-list is Chris Sabin and Kushida, who seek to take down the evil forces of VBD.

Bullet Club (Ace Austin, Chris Bey, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson, and Hikuleo) vs. Honor No More (Eddie Edwards, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, PCO, and Vincent)

The two biggest factions in IMPACT Wrestling will go to war in five-on-five action with huge implications. The two sides have been going back-and-forth with one another over the past months, including street fights and tag team battles.

An ultimatum was laid out for the match at Emergence 2022, in which if Honor No More wins, they receive a tag title shot, but if they lose, Honor No more must disband from each other. So, will Bullet Club win the war to break apart Honor No more? Or will the team of outlaws gain a shot at tag team gold after stamping their flag above Bullet Club?

Bandido vs. Rey Horus

Emergence will feature a lucha-libre showcase between two of the best luchadors in the world,  both making their IMPACT Wrestling debut. Bandido is making his biggest appearance in an American wrestling promotion since losing the ROH World Championship to Jonathan Gresham, as well as touring the indie scene in places such as GCW and PWG, impressing fans all over the world.

On the other hand, Rey Horus is not as prolific as Bandido but could solidify himself as a top luchador if he wins here. Two athletes wanting to make great first impressions in the company, with a victory potentially leading to bigger fortunes in IMPACT Wrestling.

Rocky Romero or Mike Bailey (c) vs. Jack Evans
(IMPACT X-Division Championship)

Mike Bailey won the X-Division Championship on June 19^th, 2022, at Slammiversary in Ultimate X. Ever since, he has been carrying the title with pride, defending it in both IMPACT Wrestling and the independents against wrestlers such as Trey Miguel and One Called Manders.

On the August 4^th episode of IMPACT Wrestling, it was announced that the championship would be on the line with Bailey defending his throne against the unpredictable Jack Evans. Speedball wants to continue to represent the iconic legacy of the X-Division, with one obstruction in his path: the evasive Jack Evans.

Jordynne Grace (c) vs Mia Yim
(Knockouts World Championship)

In the rubble of the first Queen Of The Mountain match, Jordynne Grace battled through to become Knockouts Champion for a second time. However, at Emergence, she will have to fight through an onslaught of Code Blue in order to remain with her title. Mia Yim earned her opportunity against the champion by upsetting Deonna Purrazzo on the July 2^nd, 2022, edition of IMPACT Wrestling.

This was followed with an intense staredown between champion and challenger. This Friday, Mia Yim looks to claim her first title in IMPACT Wrestling in the Knockouts Championship, but first, she must survive the onslaught of Thick Momma Pump, Jordynne Grace.

Josh Alexander (c) vs. Alex Shelley
(IMPACT World Championship)

Alex Shelley looks to fulfill an 18-year promise by winning the top title that has eluded him for his career against Josh Alexander. The match came about when Shelley overcame his MCMG partner, Chris Sabin, on the July 21^st edition of IMPACT Wrestling, which gave him his first shot at the IMPACT World Championship.

Alexander has been on top of the company by representing as the world champion since beating Moose at Rebellion 2022, as well as main event wars against Eric Young of VBD and NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii. As well as a world title battle, it is a battle of the past and present, with Shelley representing TNA and Alexander representing IMPACT Wrestling.

So, will the Walking Weapon remain the face of the company by retaining his championship? Or will the Machine Gun finally get the throne of his home company after almost two decades to win the IMPACT World Championship?
