KJ is back and do you see where I’m coming from?! I bet you’re wondering where I was last week. Have no fear. I am here with an update.

Last week, I took a trip to British Columbia based company, Thrash Wrestling, and faced their current Okanagan Interior Champion, Jade.

Over the last year, all I have heard is “Have you met Jade yet?” or “Wow, you two are basically twins!” We finally got to meet last fall for Real Canadian Wrestling, in a team effort, and I have been waiting for the opportunity ever since to stand opposite of her. Do you see where I’m coming from?

Friday night in Kamloops, I am confident in saying that we tore the house down, and exceeded expectations of not only the crowd but also the people in the back.

There was not one person sitting at the end of our match, and all I could think about was “Wow, let’s do that again”. Do you see where I’m coming from?

I got my opportunity to face her once again, the next night in Kelowna, and had a blast once again. Only in wrestling can I say I had a BLAST in a losing effort.

So I wanted to say thank you to Jade, for not only helping me remember why I love wrestling but pushing me that weekend to step my game up.

Do You See Where I’m Coming From?

After that weekend, I text RCW’s promoter, and my home promotion, telling him about my experience. So, therefore, this is my formal invitation (because what is more formal than a blog post call out?) to Jade, to come to face me one on one, but this time on my home turf, in Alberta.

Now, when I had to come up with something to talk about this week, I tossed out the question on my Instagram (kaylaajaye) * cough *.

One of the questions I got was from one the talented video guys (Little Barricade), asking “what is it like being a woman in a locker room full of men?”

I get this question a lot, and I think my answer is always the same. I don’t really think of it as a divide, and I don’t think about it a whole lot.

The ratio of men to women in the locker room can sometimes be 20:1. However, in a previous post, I have talked about how I view all these men as my brothers, and I know many of them to view me as their sister. Some people may think of us as competition, but truthfully I think the boys are the most supportive.

This story goes along with my experience with Trash Wrestling. I only knew a handful of them before I showed up on that first day. However, after our match, I think every single person on that roster made a point to tell me they loved our match and give me a hug.

So what is it like being a woman on a roster filled with men?

I would say it’s having a 6 foot 7 giant pull you into a bear hug because your match was great and I would say it is having the quietest guy in the locker room drag a chair over to me “because he thought I would like to sit down”.

I would say it is bringing me my favorite flavor of Monster Energy Drink (not sponsored…yet. But DM me, Monster!) because he knew I would “sometimes not have enough time to stop for one”.

I would say it is the guy who “looks like he has done time” bring me ice because he saw me take a nasty bump, and thought I could use it and I would say it is the boys asking to take me for beers because the women are main eventing.

I could go on and on, but do you see where I am coming from?

It is always nice to have females in the locker room. Especially, if you have forgotten something, need help with your hair, or some plain ole girl talk. But in all honesty, the boys are the ones who ask us more about their hair, their tan, or their love life. Sorry to call you out on that one boys.

Whether it is a hometown locker room or one I have never been in. The men have always been welcoming. So Thank You!..do you see where I’m coming from?
