AEW IGNITE for 8/12/20 (Jericho vs. Cassidy II) | Preview

Welcome to the latest edition of AEW IGNITE for 8/12/20! It is Tag Team Appreciation Night hosted by FTR. Besides the fun tag matches, we will have another TNT Championship match and a massive rematch in one of the hottest rivalries in AEW. It should be another fun show. Let us see what they have in store for us with this week’s Dynamite!

Tag Team Appreciation Night

As a stipulation for signing their contracts with AEW, FTR demanded a Tag Team Appreciation Night. As one of the best tag teams in the world today, it made sense for FTR to support tag wrestling in this way. It helps that one of AEW’s greatest strengths is its very deep Tag Team division.

One of the best parts of this night will be appearances by some of the legends in the Tag Team wrestling history. The Rock n Roll Express, one of the best in all of tag team wrestling, will be on hand. They can still wrestle after nearly forty years. We will also have a rare appearance of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard together. They were a great team in their own right but they haven’t always seen eye to eye in AEW. What will these four legends of tag team wrestling have to say on Wednesday night?

AEW IGNITE for 8/12/20

TNT Championship: Cody (c) vs. Scorpio Sky

Scorpio Sky has been on quite a roll recently. He is 7-1 in singles competition. The problem is most of those wins have occurred on AEW Dark. He decided to get his title shot when he called out Cody on last week’s Dynamite. It is going to be an excellent TNT Championship match.

Cody has gone through a lot of real challenges defending his title in recent weeks. He defeated Eddie Kingston in a brutal hardcore match. He defeated indy wrestling sensation Warhorse as well. But to face a challenger like Scorpio Sky will be a whole different level. Can Cody overcome his grueling schedule against his biggest challenge to date?

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page (c) vs. Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy w/ Marko Stunt)

Jurassic Express has picked up some of their biggest wins in recent weeks. These victories have allowed them to get their first shot at the AEW Tag Team Championship. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page have held the titles for over 200 days now. It will be another excellent hard-hitting tag match with the titles on the line.

This title match has another added element. A few weeks ago in a trios match between The Elite and Jurassic Express, Kenny Omega attacked Marko Stunt after the match. I am sure that is still on Jurassic Express’ mind. We don’t actually know what is on Omega’s mind or why he attacked Marko Stunt. What will happen when they finally met again for the Tag Titles?

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson)

The Dark Order picked up their biggest win of AEW last week when they defeated The Elite and FTR. Can The Dark Order keep their momentum going? Last week they had a true number advantage for a majority of the match. That will not be the case on Wednesday night. As both of these tag teams are high in the AEW Tag Team rankings, this match could get them back into the title conversation immediately.

The Young Bucks have been distracted by their recent interactions with FTR and Kenny Omega/Hangman Page. They certainly have been synonymous with Tag Team wrestling in recent years. But with so many outside distractions, will they be able to focus on a Dark Order that is riding on some real momentum?

Orange Cassidy vs Chris Jericho ($7,000 Obligation Match)

At AEW Fyter Fest Night Two, Orange Cassidy gave Chris Jericho all he could possibly handle. If it wasn’t for the Judas Effect, Orange Cassidy could have pulled off the biggest victory of his career. He will get another chance on Wednesday night.

Orange Cassidy has gotten under Jericho’s skin since that match. He embarrassed Chris Jericho by dropping Orange Juice on the Inner Circle and ruining Jericho’s $7,000 dollar jacket. Cassidy defeated Jericho yet again in their debate last week. As Orange said, it is the biggest match of his career. It is also the biggest match of Chris Jericho’s career. Could you imagine what would happen if Chris Jericho lost to the laziest guy in pro wrestling? We might just find out soon.
