Welcome to the latest edition of AEW IGNITE! Tonight’s Dynamite will have Cody face off against Spears in a TNT Championship quarter-final match, a must-see for all fans on AEW Dynamite! Last week’s show was first done at the “Undisclosed Location”. It led to a lot of differences in terms of how the show was presented. It seems that All Elite Wrestling has taped a lot of the upcoming shows leading into May’s Double or Nothing. Let us see what AEW has in store for us on Wednesday including Brodie Lee in action.
AEW Dynamite TNT Championship Tournament Quarterfinals
Cody VS. Shawn Spears
The road to the first TNT Champion begins! Shawn Spears gained a measure of revenge when he won his tag match against Cody last week. It wasn’t too surprising that a steel chair was involved in the finish.
Shawn Spears has been after some revenge. He lost his major singles match against Cody at last August’s All Out Event. He has been relegated to tag matches and AEW Dark a lot since then. This is his chance to get into the running for the new Championship. Cody is one of the most popular faces in the company but has lost in most of his major singles matches recently as well. Who will get the upper hand and get the first semifinal berth?
Kenny Omega & Michael Nakazawa vs Best Friends
This is certainly a unique match-up. Kenny Omega defeated Trent in a solid singles match last week. It seems Kenny Omega is fighting through his wrist injury and showing why he is one of the best wrestlers in the world.
This week presents a very unique challenge. Kenny Omega has to be in a tag match against the long-time, successful Best Friends team. Kenny doesn’t have access to Hangman Page it seems and will be teaming with Michael Nakazawa instead. Kenny and Nakazawa haven’t teamed together in six years. Michael Nakazawa also hasn’t been really successful since joining the AEW roster. Can that really change against the veteran Best Friends team?
Hikaru Shida vs Britt Baker
We are finally starting to see some progress in the AEW Women’s Division. Hikaru Shida sits on the top of the AEW Women’s rankings. She has been on quite a roll winning seven of her last eight matches. If she keeps winning it is only a matter of time before she gets a shot for the title against Nyla Rose.
Britt Baker is on a far different journey. She has been the cocky heel disrespecting all the other opponents in the division. She even was more concerned about a chicken sandwich then Shida. But if she wants to prove she is the “Face of the Women’s Division” she is going to need to prove it on Wednesday night.
Brodie Lee In-Action for AEW
Brodie Lee showed himself to be one of the most underrated talents in WWE. He has shown his talent through his promo work as the leader of the Dark Order. Will he show his talent in the ring on Wednesday? It is time to feel sorry for Lee’s opponent tonight.
Tune in to next week’s column to see what happened on another unique version of AEW Dynamite and the TNT Championship.
