On Friday, December 16th, AEW Rampage for 12/16/22 features four matches. Of the four matches set to take place, the majority of them appear to have continuity in their booking from the previous week. There is also the distinction of also involving more notable names to be involved in this show. So while this past week, AEW was promoting that Winter was Coming, it would only be fair to announce that it has now…arrived.
On the surface, there may not appear to be much to the show but what it does allow is for the growth of a feud and possibly the growth of a young talent on the women’s roster.

Skye Blue vs. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D
On this past week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, we were made aware of this match between the rising Skye Blue and Dr. Britt Baker. This could be a match that is easily tied to being guilty of cold booking. But when we consider how often Skye Blue has been involved in matches with the intent of elevating her, it isn’t all that much of a surprise having her involved here against Britt Baker.
A win here certainly helps Blue. With that said, does a loss here actually hurt Baker? When we consider how the booking of Baker may ultimately lead to a match against Jamie Hayter, the seeds could be further planted here. Whether it’s a case of miscommunication leading to a loss for Baker, but this could easily be parlayed into advancing a divide between Hayter and Baker.

Jon Moxley vs. Sammy Guevara
These two are no strangers to one another. But to have them face each other on Rampage does suggest the need to book more notable names on the promotions B-show was important. Guevara isn’t contending for any title. Moxley wants to get his hands on Hangman Page. Will the winner of this match move one of them closer to achieving what they wanted?
Fans saw Hangman Page in the trainers’ room questioned by Alex Marvez. With Evil Uno waiting behind Page, we hear Hangman share how he doesn’t know when he’ll be cleared to compete again. He also shares how he faces the threat of memory loss and its impact on his family.

Best Friends, Dustin Rhodes and Orange Cassidy vs. The Butcher and The Blade, Kip Sabian and Trent Seven
On last week’s edition of Rampage, we saw Kip Sabian’s mystery opponent for Orange Cassidy emerge. The former one-half of Mustache Mountain, Trent Seven, would come to challenge Cassidy for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship. Although Cassidy was able to retain the title, it wasn’t until hometown hero Dustin Rhodes would come to the aid of Cassidy that things would pick up.
After the ring had cleared and Cassidy was with Dustin Rhodes, it was the AEW All-Atlantic Champion that bestowed sunglasses on the face of the Natural. Although The Butcher and the Blade were summoned to get involved with the Best Friends, it would be Dustin Rhodes that would even the odds.
To see this match take place based on what happened the week before was great. Will this lead to something more with all 8 of these men in the future? After the match comes to the end, it will see if the door will be open for something more for them to continue to work with.

Wardlow will be in action
With no opponent announced against Wardlow, the question is, what will come about for his opposition in this match? We have seen Wardlow lose his TNT Championship without having a rematch yet. Does that mean he is set to challenge for something more? Or does he still have something in store for Samoa Joe?
What To Expect:
- The Fallout of the MJF/Ricky Starks Championship match from AEW Dynamite.
- Further, build to the fifth match in the best-of-seven series between Death Triangle and The Elite. Their match will be a no-disqualification matchup.
- Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida address their upcoming AEW Women’s Championship match on next week’s edition of AEW Dynamite.
