NJPW STRONG absolutely delivered on their promises last week. Main evented by a stellar champion vs. champion match between Jay White and Robbie Eagles, last week’s show could be the best to date. Determined to keep that momentum going, the second week of the Autumn Attack series of shows has another stacked card. Instead of the typical three-match card, there will be four matches on this week’s episode. There will be some truly exceptional talent in action, including Will Ospreay, TJP, Alex Coughlin, Juice Robinson, Lio Rush, and several members of the ever-popular BULLET CLUB. Let’s dive into what is in store for this week’s edition of NJPW STRONG preview for 10/16/21 Autumn Attack!
NJPW STRONG preview for 10/16/21
(Alex Coughlin Open Challenge Series)
Alex Coughlin vs. Chris Dickinson
Following his victory over Royce Isaacs two weeks ago, “Dirty Daddy” Chris Dickinson will look to answer Alex Coughlin’s call this week. Some matches are interesting due to a contrast in styles. This match-up is intriguing because both men excel in virtually all the same areas. Power, explosivity, technical ability are the calling cards of both these incredible competitors.
In what promises to be an evenly fought affair, both men will be looking to set the bar in this opening contest. Will the LA Dojo student Alex Coughlin prevail, or will the “Dirty Daddy” pick-up win? Either way, it goes, it should be an excellent opener.
The Mega Coaches (Ryusuke Taguchi and Rocky Romero) vs. West Coast Wrecking Crew (Jorel Nelson and Royce Isaacs)
Since joining Team Filthy back in August, the West Coast Wrecking Crew has a newfound swagger. With the most dominant stable on STRONG having their back, it’s easy to see why. This confidence has lead to a more intense and dangerous WCWC. They will need every bit of that intensity as they take on the highly respected veterans Ryusuke Taguchi and Rocky Romero. Teaming for the first time since falling short of winning the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships in July, the Mega Coaches have plenty of motivation.

Juice Robinson, TJP, Lio Rush, and Clark Connors vs. BULLET CLUB (Taiji Ishimori, El Phantasmo, Chris Bey, and Hikuleo)
The third match of this week’s show is a potentially electric eight-man tag match. Juice Robinson has been at odds with the BULLET CLUB for quite a while. He will enlist the help of TJP, recent AEW signee Lio Rush, and Clark Connors for this showdown with the dangerous BULLET CLUB. They will certainly have their hands full against Taiji Ishimori, El Phantasmo, the most recent BC member, and IMPACT! Wrestling star Chris Bey and the intimidating and imposing Hikuleo.
Robinson and Hikuleo have especially been at each other’s throats as of late. Just last week on IMPACT! Wrestling, FinJuice teamed with Chris Sabin against ELP, Bey, and Hikuleo in a losing effort. Juice Robinson will be looking to avenge that loss this week in what is shaping up to be a great match with many different styles at play.
Main Event:
Will Ospreay vs. Karl Fredericks
In this week’s main event, we are treated to watching one of the best wrestlers in the world today. Since making his NJPW return following injury at NJPW Resurgence, Ospreay certainly hasn’t lacked confidence. He returned with a second IWGP World Heavyweight Championship (the official one is held by Shingo Takagi) and claimed to be the “real” champion. Shingo Takagi never beat him, rather he had to vacate the title due to said injury. Karl Fredericks will surely be looking to spoil Ospreay’s return and pick up the biggest win of his young career. That is a task easier said than done, however. He will certainly have to deal with the best version of Ospreay, who seems to have a lot to prove since returning.
