To open this week’s episode of MLW Fusion for episode 84, we see Filthy Tom Lawlor with Ross and Marshall Von Erich. They are getting hyped up before their respective matches tonight. Rich and AJ welcome us to the broadcast and our first match is Ikuro Kwon of CONTRA Unit versus Marshall Von Erich. Kwon is of course accompanied by Josef Samael and Marshall is accompanied by his brother Ross. Ikuro Kwon wastes no time starting the match, diving onto Marshall while he greeted fans of ringside. Once Marshall got the Iron Claw hooked onto Kwon, Samael jumped into the ring to end the match officially. Ross immediately came to his brother’s defense.

Next, we are treated to another episode of the Lifestyles of the Rich and Dynastic. MJF is out after a botched Botox operation. Hammerstone promises a “yuge” gift-train for the Dynasty. Speaking of The Dynasty, they are in action here. Richard Holliday and Hammerstone join forces to face While Holliday attempts to cut a promo, he receives a phone call from his lawyer/father. Their opponents are newcomers Dominic Garrini and Douglas James.

While Hammerstone and Holliday are used to dominating the offense, James and Garrini hang in with the more experienced duo. Garrini even kicks out of one of Richard’s signature moves, 2008. Garrini made the tag to Douglas James, who fought off both Holliday and Hammerstone. The end was a bit chaotic, but Douglas James was able to make it back to the ring before the count of 20.
After another update on Teddy Hart, he’s still out indefinitely, we hear from the new MLW World Middleweight Champion, Myron Reed. He says that he knows people don’t like that he’s champion but the Hot Fire Myron Reed will show them why he is. He also pays tribute to ACH and Matt Travis; Travis tragically passed away at the age of 25. Backstage, we check in again with Tom Lawlor and the Von Erichs.
A carrier drops by and gives them a package, a smartphone with a video from Josef Samael. He promised Marshall and Ross that he had an offer that they wouldn’t be able to refuse. Samael’s offer is indeed tempting, and it’s a chance for one of the Von Erich boys to challenge Jacob Fatu for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. After some discussion, it’s decided that younger brother Marshall will get the opportunity on Thanksgiving night.
Zeda Zhang had a brief interview with Kaci Lennox, her match with The Spider Lady will be next week on MLW Fusion. Next is a video promo from Mance Warner, challenging Jimmy Havoc to a falls count anywhere match. In a rebuttal, Havoc accepts but reminds Ol’ Mancer that Orlando is his American home. He vows to make Warner bleed and drink it once again.
Up next is the much-anticipated main event between Davey Boy Smith Jr. and “Filthy” Tom Lawlor. This match has been talked about since earlier this year while the Filthy One was still MLW World Heavyweight Champion. In the crowd is new MLW-signee, King Mo. He’s very interested in this contest and the camera returns to him on several occasions. The two men are very evenly matched, with mat wrestling and martial arts experience on both sides. Davey does have a slight height advantage of Lawlor, but other than that they are fairly evenly matched.

Both men would exchange various wrestling holds, strong strikes and explosive maneuvers. Davey Boy Smith Jr. would pay tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero with a version of Three Amigos. He would also lock in the Hart-patented Sharpshooter which caused Lawlor so much pain he bit down on his own hand to prevent himself from tapping. After another heated exchange of strikes, an errant thumb (deliberate or not?) would get Davey in the eye. Lawlor would slip out of Smith’s powerslam attempt and hit a reverse DDT/backbreaker combo to pick up the win.

After the fight, Kaci Lennox would catch up with Filthy Tom. He answers the question that’s been on everyone’s lips: What’s next for Tom Lawlor? He’s not sure himself, but he is sure that he’s the hottest commodity in wrestling right now. That’s it for this week’s episode of MLW Fusion. We’ll see you right back here next week for another great episode.
