David Fredrick and Stephen Faust of the “Official Tito Santana Group, Arriba!” on Facebook “gets it.” Tito Santana is a legend deserving of not only having his career archived daily as Faust does so passionately but of being in any and all discussions of all-time greats.
Tito was “that guy” who night after night came into the ring, gave 110% percent, and had good to great bouts on a nightly basis.
While Hogan turned up three or four nights a year to major arenas, Tito was that IC Champ and/or challenger who would sell out MSG and arenas throughout the circuit nightly. Can anybody ever forget the ultra-stiff barn burners he had main-eventing with Greg Valentine time and time again? What about his unforgettable steel cage match at the Garden with Bruno Sammartino against Randy Savage and Adrian Adonis? Sadly enough he’s now the last man standing. And he’s more than just standing- he’s still active on the indie circuit.
So, when I heard that our critically acclaimed full-length documentary, 350 Days, was being acknowledged on a one hour program at a prestigious New Jersey college and that Tito was going to be our special guest, I was honored to be sitting next to one of my wrestling heroes. The fact that he is tremendously well-spoken, honest, and doesn’t hold back only added to the interview and the experience. And in the middle of it when I pour my heart and describe Tito as an “Artist” mid-interview I sincerely meant just that. Here was a guy that thrilled 22,000 of us at the garden and he was now part of our film and our lives.
Sometimes in wrestling, you just must pinch yourself.
As Associate Producer on 350 Days we’ve had a lot of fun going on the road and getting the word out on this heartfelt truly independent work. This was right up at the top of the list of great experiences. Kudos to the entire TV team for a beautifully and professionally done show. The film and the show will bring you back in time when guys like Tito spent their lives on the road and the sacrifices they made to entertain. I believe you’ll find both this program and 350 Days memorable and moving and we thank you as always for your support.
