Earlier today, the latest episode of “Being the Elite” was published. During the video in question, a recap of Lucha Libre AAA Verano de Escandalo, which took place this past Sunday in Merida, Mexico, played. During the event, Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr., aka The Lucha Brothers, defeated The Young Bucks for the AAA World Tag Team Championship. This wasn’t the only news shared in the episode, however. Following their victory, The Lucha Brothers at Fyter Fest, they would partner with Laredo Kid. To take on The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Fyter Fest will take place on June 29th from the Daytona Beach Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Laredo Kid is the current AAA World Cruiserweight Champion. Born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, Laredo Kid made his AAA debut in 2005. Since then, he has won the AAA World Trios Championship, alongside Myzteziz Jr. and El Hijo del Vikingo. And the 2018 Men’s Lucha Capital tournament. Most recently, he won the aforementioned AAA World Cruiserweight Champion. He defeated current AEW signee Sammy Guevara at Conquista Total this past February.
Originally, PAC was to partner with The Lucha Brothers. However, following creative differences that date back before Double or Nothing, PAC has been absent from AEW-related programming.
Sutter’s Synopsis: Despite the absence of PAC, All Elite Wrestling has been able to shift their focus until both parties are able to come to terms. PAC’s replacement in Laredo Kid is nothing short of remarkable for the latter talent. Despite being in the wrestling business for over a decade and a half, Laredo Kid is in the prime of his career at 32 years old. Furthermore, he’s considered a solid talent by many fans. Last month, he wrestled El Hijo del Vikingo in what’s been considered an overlooked classic.
How will Laredo Kid perform at Fyter Fest, though? Despite possessing the least star power of anyone involved in the six-man tag team match, it’s safe to say that he will use said match as a platform. Laredo Kid will come into this bout with, to many viewers, few to no expectations. If he’s able to showcase the style that he’s crafted since his youth, Laredo Kid will not only gain new fans but opportunities around the world to boot.
