Independent Wrestling Weekly for 08/10/20

The independent wrestling weekly news review for 08/10/20 is back for another week. During the last week, Warrior Wrestling held their Friday Night Lights event at Chicago Heights, IL. Zelo Pro Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, Synergy Pro Wrestling, and Paradigm Pro Wrestling all announced matches and events all happening this year. Equity UK have asked promotions to commit to five pledges due to the Speaking Out movement.

Warrior Wrestling’s Friday Night Lights Took Place This Week 

Warrior Wrestling’s Friday Night Lights event took place this week, on Friday 7th August at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, IL. During Friday Night Lights Kylie Rae won her match up to become the number 1 contender for Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship. Isaiahs Velasquez was next in the ring against Dre, Isaiahs Velasquez won the match up this time. Lance Archer won over Sam Adonic by DQ.

Friday Night Lights continued as Joey Janela won his matchup. This was followed by the Spartan Stadium Stampede Scramble, which Warhorse won. The Rascalz then beat Zayne, Ben, and Blake within the squared circle. Robert Anthony was up next as he faced Brian Pillman Jr, Brain Pillman Jr won the match and retained the Warrior Wrestling Championship. Friday Night Lights’ main event was between Brian Cage and Jeff Cobb. The match didn’t go as planned as Sam Adonis interfered with the match-up, this resulted in the match-turning into a four-way between Cage, Cobb, Adonis, and Lance Archer. Though neither Archer, Cobb, or Adonis was successful as Brian Cage took the win.

Zelo Pro Wrestling continued their preparations for their next event Stronger Together on Saturday 15th August 2020 in Chicago, IL. The event will be shown on FITE TV and will feature Luck vs Valentine, Benjamin vs Fowler, Battalion vs Bang and more.

Game Changer Wrestling Announces New Shows 

Game Changer Wrestling announced two events this week, GCW’s Bring Em Out and GCW Presents Jimmy Lloyd’s Jersey Shore. GCW’s Bring Em Out will take place on Sunday the 6th of September 2020 in Indianapolis. So far Game Changer Wrestling has announced Rickey Shane Page verse Matthew Justice and ACH verse Blake Christian.

Whereas GCW Presents Jimmy Lloyd’s Jersey Shore will take place on August the 23rd at The Garden Pier on the Atlantic City Broadwalk. At GCW Presents Jimmy Lloyd’s Jersey Shore Blake Chrisitan will face Andrew Everett, Tony Deppen verse Ken Broadway and Lee Moriarty will face Chris Dickinson.

At both events face masks will be required, the tickets for both events will be at a reduced capacity with staggered seating. Game Changer Wrestling will make sure that hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the arenas and social distancing will be enforced.

Synergy Pro Wrestling has signed some more matches for their Heatseekers event this week. The event is scheduled to be held on August 29th. LSG will meet Matt Macintosh within the squared circle. The Synergy Pro Cruiserweight Crown will also be on the line as the current champion TJ Crawford defeats against The Whisper. Heatseekers event will be available to watch on FITE TV.

Paradigm Pro Wrestling has announced their 3rd Anniversary Show set for Friday 25th of September, held in Sellersburg, IN. Same Energy has eight matches announced so far, including Freddie Hudson vs Myron Reed for the Paradigm Championship, Bobby Beverly will compete in a street fight for the Heavy Hitters Championship against Matthew Justice. Calvin Tankman vs Brett Ison, O’shay Edwards vs Hood Foot Mo Atlas, Nolan Edward vs Dominic Garrini, Flash Thompson vs Justin Kyle, Chase Holliday vs Cole Radrick for the MWT.com Championship. There will also be a tag team championship featured as Rejects face off against DDTRASH for the Portal To Pain Tag Team Championship.

Equity UK has requested all professional wrestling promotions within the United Kingdom commit to five pledges. The aim of these five pledges is to safeguard entertainers within the world of wrestling from abuse and harassment due to allegations raised by the Speaking Out movement. So far WAW British Wrestling, DISOBEY Wrestling, Immortal Wrestling, British Wrestling Revolution, Progress Wrestling, New Riot Wrestling, Straight Edge Wrestling, FCW, Odyssey Pro Wrestling, CATCH Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Ambush, TNT Extreme Wrestling, Social Justice Wrestling, Wrestle Carnival and several other promotions.

The five pledges Equity UK has asked promotions to commit to are; 

  1. That all promotions have a clear and robust Dignity at Work policy
  2. That all transport and accommodation arrangements are agreed with talent in advance
  3. That a separate, private and secure dressing room space be provided at every show
  4. That a paramedic be present at every show
  5. That all associated wrestling schools provide clear safeguarding policies
