Two Year Anniversary! On January 19th, 2019 DEFY Wrestling will be celebrating two years as a promotion with DEFY Never Dies! What a spectacular two years it has been. We’ve seen several champions and the introduction of tag team championship. In the last two years we’ve seen this promotion explode on the scene in a way that can only invoke images of the fourth of July. Everyone from the owner, promoters, performers and the loyal fans have played their part in making this one of the top promotions in the country and beyond.

So far, we are still receiving information on the Anniversary Show. It’s been trickling out of DEFY on a regular basis, and this is what we know so far.

Artemis Spenser will be making his first title Defense!

Fresh off his title win against Shane Strickland, Artemis Spenser will be defending his place as the DEFY Champion for the very first time. Will he be a one match wonder? Something I have learned time and time again, Artemis Spenser should never be underestimated. He seems to have a kind of Hulk like engine which requires him to take a beating before he ‘hulks out’ and turns into Artemis Spenser the champion.

One thing can be said for certain, his first challenger is no one to take lightly. Earning the distinction as Spencer’s first challenger for the title is none other than Dezmond Xavier! This young man has been at DEFY before. This last summer he took on and defeated Scorpio Sky. Mr. Xavier is a truly gifted competitor in the ring and he is more than capable of cutting Artemis Spenser’s reign as DEFY Champion short. Will he though? It’s hard to say, but I know this match is going to be incredible.

    Southern California Uncensored!

At the second Anniversary we have Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky and Christopher Daniels, coming to Washington Hall. These gentlemen probably don’t need much in the way of an introduction. All three of them have been in the business for years and most recently best known for their time with Ring of Honor. So, who are these three men facing on January 19th?

Apparently, they will be facing Team DEFY. Who is in Team DEFY? Though it hasn’t been officially announced anywhere that I’ve seen, my best guess would be the three DEFY regulars they have on the poster. If this is the case, Team DEFY will be Shane Strickland, Schaff and Randy Myers. If this is the case, we are going to be in for an incredible evening to be certain!

    Predictions and Speculation

I predict we are going to see another appearance from the new faction at DEFY, The Pride. Consisting of Guillermo Rosas, Carl Randers and King Khash, they have made quite an impact at the last two DEFY shows. Their favorite target, Cody Chhun, lost in his last encounter with the Pride even with the help of Randy Myers. I somehow don’t think we’ve seen the last of this feud. Besides the Pride members won all their matches so they have built up some momentum and I suspect they are going to want to capitalize on that!

Keep an Eye out for more!

We are still waiting for some announcements. It was indicated by DEFY Promotor Matt Farmer at the company Christmas party there are people who cannot be announced until January 1, 2019, which is the day their exclusive contracts end, and talent announcements can be made public. That announcement set the room abuzz and speculation has run wild ever since. I guess we won’t know until sometime on or after January 1st so keep an eye out on social media for updates.

Also DEFY tweeted that fans should consider blocking out their entire day on January 19, 2019 as there will be more going on than just their show. They already announced there will be a Swerve City Podcast episode recorded earlier in the day they will be selling tickets for. There is no telling what else they might have up their sleeves!
