Here Comes A New Challenger

Outside of her run-ins with the Robert Stone brand, Shotzi Blackheart has been competing at a high level on the NXT brand. But between teaming with former champion Rhea Ripley to using Aliyah as her own personal stress ball, the raging tank girl has now set her eyes upon a chance at the Women’s Championship.

The same can go for Io Shirai, who has had her own issues with the women of the NXT brand while maintaining her dominance as the leader of the division. But even while facing all comers, Io has yet to have another challenger face her for the coveted championship.

While this week’s matchup is non-title, Io Shirai faces Shotzi Blackheart in which could be a prelude to a possible title match if Shotzi plays her cards right. Will the Genius of the Sky shut down this potential challenge and continue to reign over the division with an iron fist or will Blackheart gain a victory and gain her first opportunity at the NXT Women’s Championship?

Establish Dominance

The Undisputed Era has been in a bit of a funk since their proclamation once again hold all the gold in NXT came to an end officially after Adam Cole lost his title match on last week’s edition of the show. But their actions come with consequences as Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish attempted to take the fight to the NXT locker room and interrupted a clash between Drake Maverick and Killian Dain three weeks ago.

For Maverick and Dain, it has gone from being an interesting David vs. Goliath clash on NXT to being bitter enemies with a central goal. But while Dain has made it evidently clear these two are not friends, Maverick has remained adamant of having Dain help him in facing the two former tag team championships.

This week, this series of run-ins and interruptions become a match as Fish and Strong faces Dain and Maverick in an epic tag team clash. While the Beast of Belfast has made it clear to NXT’s King of Redemption that they are not friends, can these two co-exist to once again shut down the UE or is this match the start of Fish, Strong, and the Undisputed Era’s reign of terror on the brand?

A Lifestyle Clash

Damian Priest has become of the biggest stars on the NXT brand. From his clashes with former NXT Champion and resident RAW superstar Keith Lee to his big title win at NXT Takeover, Priest has become of the biggest success stories in the brand in recent history.

But hindsight is 20/20 as, on the other side of the coin, Timothy Thatcher has become one of the brashest superstars on the brand. His intent of teaching the world his way of pain. He’s the man who subsequently forced Matt Riddle out of NXT. And owns a victory over Bronson Reed. Now he’s looking to put his message on a bigger scale.

After their confrontation backstage a week removed from Priest’s title win, Timothy Thatcher faces the champ on this week’s edition of NXT. With the North American title on the line, will Damian Priest continue to show why he will live forever as the reigning and defending champion? or will Timothy Thatcher become the 8th man in NXT history to hold the prestigious title?

The Final Showdown

It has been an interesting tale of two teams over the past 2 months on NXT.

For Breezango, it’s been a tumultuous ride on their path to becoming champions. While they previously challenged the then champion Imperium before in a losing effort, it has been the momentum from facing Legado De Fantasma and their big win on NXT Takeover XXX pre-show to become the #1 Contenders for the NXT Tag Team titles that lead to their epic title win just a week later.

For Imperium, it’s been a shadow cast over two brands for the 4 man preservers of the mat. While Alexander Wolfe and NXT UK Champion Walker continue to become a thorn in the side of the entire NXT UK locker room, Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel crossed the waters and gained the NXT Tag Team titles in quick fashion. Until Breezango halted their dominant reign.

On this week’s edition of NXT, this a sure-fire main event. Here we get what is sure to be the final showdown between two of the most impactful teams in NXT today. Actually this is one of NXT’s hottest tag team rivalries in recent history. No more talking, no more dress up, it’s Fandango and Tyler Breeze vs. Aichner and Barthel. Can NXT’s resident veterans once again continue their reign over wrestling’s deepest division? Or will the mat become sacred with the gold of NXT tag team glory once again?

And that was Coming Up NXT for 9/16/20 for what is sure to be another historic Championship Wednesday. Tune in Wednesday to another jam-packed edition of NXT, only on the USA Network!
