On the second night of WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre has captured the WWE Championship was crowned. In the weeks and months leading up to this moment, Drew McIntryre’s journey to the WWE Championship was more than just a win. With this year’s Royal Rumble approaching whispers began to circulate as who would challenge for the WWE Championship. Of course, the discussion as to whether the person challenging would be either for the WWE or Universal Championship. When the Royal Rumble came around and Brock Lesnar decided to become the first entrant in the Rumble. The question posed was how long would he remain in the matchup? The answer to that was 26 minutes. Brock Lesnar was in the match in complete control until the sixteenth entrant came into the ring. That entrant was Drew McIntyre.

When McIntyre came in the entire complexity of the match changed as well. McIntyre’s entry into the match also reflected different energy into the match. The crowd could sense it. Those on commentary were highlighting it too. A momentary distraction on the part of Ricochet led to the memorable Claymore kick. Drew McIntyre’s Claymore kick propelled  Lesnar over the top rope to the floor. McIntyre stood leaning across the ropes looking at the fallen WWE Champion.

It was at this point where the wheels were in motion to who would challenge Brock for the championship. As the weeks passed, McIntyre began to not only challenge Brock Lesnar but not relent to him. At no point did McIntyre appear like a timid challenger to the beast incarnate. The story being told was how he was able to crush Brock Lesnar with a single kick. McIntyre’s claymore kick wiped out the Beast. For a single kick to have that effect on Lesnar was sending a clear message.

On Sunday, April 5th, the story of Drew McIntyre had finally come full circle.

Several years ago, McIntyre was dubbed as the Chosen One. A young fresh-faced McIntyre was referred to as a future world champion. Here we are and Drew McIntyre stood across the ring from the Beast Incarnate with his ey on the WWE Championship. Brock Lesnar hit no less than three F5’s on McIntyre. With each one, McIntyre kicked out showing that he was no ordinary challenger. McIntyre showed his strength and showed his will. He continued to show his that he would not relent. McIntyre has been presented with an opportunity. This night, Drew McIntyre proved to be the chosen one and has finally captured WWE Championship.
