After The IMPACT for 11/24/22 (Thanksgiving Special)

On Thursday, November 24th, 2022, IMPACT Wrestling aired a special Thanksgiving episode of IMPACT Wrestling as we review after the IMPACT for 11/24/22. We had 4 matches that was aired from 2008, 2016, 2017 & 2007.

Kicking off this week’s IMPACT with Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt welcomed us to the show. Hannifan said we will not only relive matches from the past but also look back at Overdrive.

Finals Of The 2008 Turkey Bowl
Rhino vs. Alex Shelley vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir 

Alex Shelley & Sheik Abdul Bashir gangs up on Rhino. Shelley applies a sleeper hold. Rhino drives Shelley back first into the steel barricade. Bashir with a straight right hand. Bashir rolls Rhino back into the ring. Bashir goes into the lateral press for a two count.

Bashir applies a rear chin lock. Rhino with some shots to the body then Shelley with a forearm shot across the back of Rhino. Shelley with a knee drop. Bashir follows that with a running leg drop then Shelley goes into the cover for a two count. Bashir starts yelling at Shelley. Bashir with an neckbreaker then goes for a cover but only got a two count. Bashir has had enough of Shelley’s games then Rhino comes in with some rapid fire rights & lefts.

Shelley kicks the left hamstring of Rhino. Shelley stands on Rhino’s back then Shelley & Bashir hit Rhino with a double suplex then Shelley goes for the cover but Bashir pulls Shelley.

Bashir slams Rhino’s head on the top turnbuckle pad. Shelley with a flying forearm smash. Bashir with a corner Meteora. Shelley sweeps out the legs of Rhino. Shelley is choking Rhino with his boot. Bashir reverses out of the Irish whip from Shelley.

Bashir clotheslines Shelley for a two-count. Bashir puts Shelley on the top turnbuckle. Shelley with an avalanche inverted atomic drop. Bashir shoves Shelley into the turnbuckles. Bashir & Shelley are trading back & forth shots before Rhino clotheslines Bashir then connects with Gore on Shelley for the win.

Winner: Rhino (5:11) (Since Shelley was pinned he must wear the turkey suit) 

Mick Foley is here and he says Shelley knew what the stipulations were and he needs to put the turkey suit on. Shelley said if he puts it on, the girls won’t be happy. Foley said Shelley is one of the most electrifying talent he has seen. He wants Shelley on this show. But there is a difference between wanting and needing him. He said if he walks out, he will be going without his job. He gives Shelley the count of 10 to put it on. Shelley puts the suit on.

We get messages from Taylor Wilde, Major Players, Tom Hannifan, Eddie Edwards, Tasha Steelz & Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry on what they’re thankful for.

We get a promo from Violent By Design’s Eric Young & Deaner. Eric Young says to get to where they’re going; they have to go back to where it all began.

We see a clip of Kurt Angle’s Thanksgiving Dinner from 2007. Karen Angle is dressed as a pilgrim. Awesome Kong tries to eat the fake fruit. Team 3D come in, and everyone threw trash at them then everybody left. Bubba asks Kurt’s daughter Kiera Angle how she’s doing. She tells them they suck. Kevin Nash & Scott Hall come in and pie Karen in the face. A food fight ensues.

We watch a clip from Overdrive where Mickie James defeated Taylor Wilde. Deonna Purrazzo showed up after the match and calls her a selfish bitch. She says James is only here for herself. She can see right through her then she said James has been hell-bent on ruining her career. Purrazzo says she is looking to end Mickie’s career.

Mickie is in a backstage promo, and she says she should’ve known. Mickie says if that’s how it’s gonna be let’s go.

A promo airs for IPWF Throwback Throwdown III.

2016 Turkey Bowl Match
Robbie E vs. Grado

Robbie E, with a double leg takedown, then uses the middle rope for leverage for a two count. Grado ducks a clothesline from Robbie E. Grado trips Robbie E for a two count. Grado gets distracted by Jay Bradley, then Robbie E with a short arm reversal before he sends Grado into the ropes. Robbie E blocks a sunset flip. Grado pulls down Robbie’s pants; then he rolls him up to get the victory.

Winner: Robbie E (3:51) (Since Grado lost he must wear the turkey suit)

After the match, Robbie E does cartwheels around the ring as Grado puts on the turkey suit. Grado proceeds to dance in the ring.

We see the end of the IMPACT World Title Match from OverDrive, where Alexander pins Kazarian with the C4 Spike.

Bully Ray comes out after the match and says he’s challenging Josh Alexander at Hard To Kill for the IMPACT World Title. Josh accepts the challenge and shakes Bully’s hand. Bully attacks Josh with a steel chair. He pulls Josh’s wife Jade Chung over the guardrail and threatens to attack her.

In an exclusive video, they show Rich Swann & Scott D’Amore coming to ringside, and D’Amore asks what is wrong with Bully. Bully asks if they know who he is.

We see a clip of Rockstar Spud’s Thanksgiving Dinner from 2013. He invites all the winners from that night. Bobby Roode, The Addiction, The Bromans, Lei’D Tapa show up. Kurt Angle shows up with faces and says he says all he sees are lovers. A food fight ensues.

Eli Drake Gravy Train Trot Match
Chris Adonis, El Hijo Del Fantasma, Caleb Konley, Laurel Van Ness & KM vs. Eddie Edwards, Richard Justice, Fallah Bahh, Allie & Garza Jr

Richard Justice & Caleb Konley will starts things off. Justice ducks a clothesline from Konley. Justice fires off a series of left jabs. Justice shoves an apple down Konley’s throat. Justice rolls Konley over for a two-count. Laurel Van Ness hops on Justice back. Allie with a forearm smash to Van Ness.

Allie connects with the body avalanche. Allie follows that with a Sliding Lariat. Fallah Bahh & KM are tagged in. KM goes for a shoulder block, but Bahh stand still. KM kicks Bahh in the gut. KM delivers a big haymaker then sends Bahh shoulder first to the steel ring post that takes us to a break.

After the commercial break, KM is trying to wear down Bahh. Bahh, with a Running Crossbody Block to KM. Garza Jr tags himself in & he rips off his pants. Bahh lands a Samoan drop. Garza with the lateral press for a two-count. Garza goes for an arm drag but KM counters with a forearm in mid-air. KM tags in El Hijo Del Fantasma.

Fantasma, with a bodyshot to Garza then, dropkicks Garza, then goes for a cover, but Garza kicks out. Fantasma tags in Chris Adonis then he is putting the boots to Garza. Adonis with a back elbow strike for a two-count. Adonis & Konley are double-teaming Garza. Konley with a leaping knee drop for a two-count.

Konley takes a cheap shot at Eddie Edwards. KM is choking Garza with his boot. Adonis with a leg drop for a two-count. Adonis knocks Edwards off the ring apron. Adonis gets Garza trapped in a Bear Hug. Garza fights out of it with a jawbreaker before landing a big boot. Garza follows that with a headbutt. Garza makes the hot tag to Edwards.

Edwards clears the ring. Edwards with an inverted atomic drop to KM. Edwards decks KM with the step-up enzuigiri. Edwards connects with the Blue Thunder Bomb for a two-count. A pier-six brawl ensues in the center of the ring. Edwards sends Fantasma out of the ring.

Edwards takes out Fantasma with the Suicide Dive. Garza lowers the top rope, which sends Adonis tumbling to the outside. Justice and Bahh are double-teaming KM. Garza with a hurricanrana that sends KM out of the ring. Konley attacks Garza from behind. Konley leapfrogs over Bahh. Justice sends Konley crashing into Adonis & KM.

Allie lays everybody out with a crossbody before Edwards rolls Adonis back into the ring. Adonis connects with the spinebuster. Adonis goes for the Adonis Lock but Edwards counters with a victory roll to get the win for his team.

Winners:  Eddie Edwards, Richard Justice, Fallah Bahh, Allie & Garza Jr (16:13) (Since Adonis was pinned he must wear the turkey suit)

Backstage Delirious & Yuya Uemura cut a promo about what they’re thankful for.

Steve Maclin cuts a promo and says it is tag em, bag em and mayhem for all.

Finals Of The 2007 Turkey Bowl
Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Chris Sabin

The match starts off with AJ Styles punches Chris Sabin, then Samoa Joe & Sabin treats Styles like a punching bag, then they hit a double Irish whip before Joe connects with a back body drop. Sabin clotheslines Styles over the top rope. Sabin rolls out of the hammer throw from Joe.

Styles misfires on the double clothesline then Joe chops Sabin, Sabin with a spinning back kick before Sabin lands suicide dive. Sabin unloads a flurry of right jabs. Styles launches Chris Sabin face-first into the top rope. Styles is throwing rights & lefts at Sabin. Joe with a flurry of right jabs. Joe sweeps out the legs of Styles. Joe with a running elbow smash. Joe with a spinning enzuigiri. Styles with a running forearm smash.

Styles follows that with 2 dropkicks. Styles kicks Joe in the gut. Styles with two haymakers. Joe answers a toe kick. Joe continues to dish out repeated jabs. Styles drops down on the canvas. Styles dropkicks Joe. Sabin with a running enzuigiri. Sabin goes for Cradle Shock but Styles rolls him over for a one count.

Styles hits Styles Clash for a two-count. Joe is lighting up Styles’ chest. Joe sends Styles to the corner. Styles decks Joe with a back elbow smash. Joe catches Styles in mid air. Joe drops Styles with Emerald Flowsion for a two-count. Sabin nails a rolling elbow before he connects with a springboard tornado DDT.

Joe has Sabin perched on the top turnbuckle. Joe & Sabin are trading back & forth shots. Joe with a step-up enzuigiri. Sabin crashes down to the floor. Styles ducks a clothesline from Joe. Styles with The Pele Kick. Joe responds with The Uranage Slam. Joe connects with The Muscle Buster.

Winner: Samoa Joe (29:34) (Since Styles was pinned he must wear the turkey suit)

Styles refuses to wear the Turkey Suit on. Jim Cornette comes out and says Styles has been the biggest turkey in TNA for a long time, and now he’s going to prove it. Cornette says Styles is going to gobble up his guts and wear that suit on. Styles reluctantly puts the Turkey Suit on.

Kurt Angle comes out & he says he has never been humiliated his whole life. Styles is a Turkey. How does it look for a gold medalist to be standing next to a Turkey? Styles says he doesn’t look like a gold medalist; he looks like a pilgrim. Samoa Joe comes out with Nash & Hall.

Joe says whether they’re a Turkey or a pilgrim, he sees 3 jackasses in the ring. Joe says its time to kick some ass. Joe, Nash & Hall head to the ring and beat them down. Joe says at Turning Point; they’re done.
