AEW Fyter Fest 2020 Preview Night One | Preview

It is time for Fyter Fest! AEW has done a good job of building two nights of pay-per-view quality events. It should lead to two very exciting shows that are full of excellent matches and maybe even some big surprises. The first night will be very special with three title matches. Let us look at the first five matches of Fyter Fest. We present the AEW Fyter Fest 2020 preview.

The Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy w/ Marko Stunt) vs. MJF & Wardlow

MJF is certainly setting pretty. He has only lost one match in All Elite Wrestling and he will mention that he wasn’t even pinned in that loss. He is sitting at the top of the AEW Single Rankings as well. Can anyone knock the cocky MJF down a peg?

Enter Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy has quickly become quite the rival to MJF. They had one of the best matches of AEW Double or Nothing. However, Jungle Boy doesn’t hold a victory over MJF despite multiple attempts.

It is possible Luchasaurus can help change that. He is one of the biggest men in AEW and only lost to Wardlow last week because of some cheating. Will Jurassic Express be able to finally get that big victory over MJF & Wardlow?  After all, Fyter Fest is the place of MJF’s only loss. Can it happen again?

Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) vs. Proud-n-Powerful (Santana & Ortiz)

Last week, Matt Hardy defeated Santana. Proud-n-Powerful attempted to attack Matt Hardy after the match. It was only stopped by the newest proteges of the Broken One, Private Party.

Private Party is in need of a big victory. They were out of action for months during the lockdown. They returned to lose a close match at AEW Double or Nothing that cost them a Tag Team title shot. Can they get the big win against Santana & Ortiz? They have lost to them before in their only tag team match last November. Will Matt Hardy’s guidance make the difference at Fyter Fest?

Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Penelope Ford (AEW Women’s World Championship Match)

Hikaru Shida has had a great 2020. It was still considered an upset when she defeated Nyla Rose in a No-Disqualification Match at AEW Double or Nothing to win her first Women’s Championship. Can Shida continue her 40-day title reign at AEW Fyter Fest?

Her first challenger is an interesting one in Penelope Ford. Ford has really stepped up her game in 2020. She has wrestled a lot of matches during the Pandemic. Most importantly, she picked up a pinfall victory in June over Shida in a tag match. The rivalry has just heated up since that match. Can Ford pull off an upset and bring an early end to Shida’s reign?

Kenny Omega & Hangman Page (c) vs. The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent) (AEW World Tag Team Championship Match)

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page are the longest-reigning Champions currently in AEW. They have held the Tag Team titles for 160 days. Despite being sidelined during parts of the Pandemic, they have defeated challengers like SCU, The Young Bucks, The Lucha Brothers, The SuperBad Death Squad, and The Natural Nightmares. Can the Tag Champions fend off their latest challengers?

The Best Friends have been a successful tag team since 2013. They have been on a hot streak winning their last eight matches. They have defeated the likes of Kenny Omega & Michael Nakazawa, The Butcher and The Blade, The SuperBad Death Squad, Private Party, and then Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. Can they keep it going against one of the best teams in the world?

As good as the Best Friends are, they haven’t one a lot of titles as a tag team. Can they finally win the big one at Fyter Fest? It should be one of the best matches on the entire card.

Cody (c) vs. Jake Hager (AEW TNT Championship Match)

It took a while but Cody finally won his first AEW title at this May’s Double or Nothing. He defeated Lance Archer to become the first-ever AEW TNT Championship. Cody celebrated that night but he wasn’t going to rest on his laurels.

He immediately said he would be a fighting champion defending his title in an Open Challenge on AEW Dynamite. First he defeated Jungle Boy. The very next week he defeated Marq Quen. He followed that up by defeating his TNT Championship against a surprise opponent in Ricky Starks.  Cody has only been TNT Champion for forty days but he is always willing to risk his title in the ring.

Enter Jake Hager. The Inner Circle Member and MMA fighter is a dangerous opponent for Cody. He has threatened Arn Anderson. Hager broke the arm of Dustin Rhodes last year. He has been a constant thorn in the Nightmare Family’s side for months. Can Cody keep his emotions in check against his most dangerous competitor to date? It will be a fun main event to end the first night of Fyter Fest. I cannot wait.
