Southern Pro Wrestling New Zealand. The entire wrestling world is constantly searching out trying to discover where the next untapped source of talent and excitement is going to come from.

There are many areas of the world where talent have not fully been discovered yet but are on the verge of a major breakthrough.

One of these untapped markets right now is New Zealand, there is so much talent starting to break through from New Zealand and much of it can be contributed to the massive rise in popularity of independent promotion Southern Pro Wrestling.

Southern Pro Wrestling New Zealand is known to run regular shows in the Otago & Southland region of New Zealand.

SPW New Zealand was founded by Troy Crosbie & Marc Perry. Troy Crosbie & Marc Perry both have a very extensive background of professional wrestling.

Troy Crosbie was trained by Lance Storm in Calgary, Alberta Canada. He wrestled all over New Zealand after returning from his training in Western Canada.

Marc Perry was trained by UK World Of Sports legend Steve Logan and by 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick.

Marc Perry has wrestled all over the UK, New Zealand, and Australia. Troy and Marc had the vision to start their own wrestling company and so in 2015 Southern Pro Wrestling New Zealand, was born.

In only a short few years the company has managed to market themselves so successfully that they have risen to become one of the most talked-about companies on the independent wrestling circuit.

The training academy is where the magic truly begins, as SPW train young talents to be the very best when they step inside the squared circle.

The academy has started to produce some extremely high-quality talents that include names such as J.K Moody, Kane Khan, Will Power, and Hammer who are all names who have quickly become success stories and are putting the entire wrestling world on notice of their existence.

There are currently two different championships available in SPW New Zealand. The first of these championships is the SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship.

This championship has been held by the best of the best in the company and has produced some classic battles between superstars doing what they can to obtain the championship.

The SPW New Zealand Championship is currently held by Hooligan Marcus Kool but it has boasted quite a list of previous holders such as Kane Khan, J.K Moody, Powerhouse T-Rex, Will Power, and Shane Sinclair.

The SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship has become a championship of real prestige in the wrestling world as it has been defended in some of the absolute best quality championship matches ever.

    Championships

The other championship in SPW New Zealand is the SPW Tag Team Championship. The SPW Tag Team Championship was introduced to the company in 2018 so the current list of winners is a very exclusive list at the moment.

NZXT were the first team to hold the SPW New Zealand tag team championships but the titles have also been held by Cruisermates, and also the current SPW New Zealand Tag Team Champions Detention.

The Tag Team Championship belts have not had the time that the SPW Heavyweight Championship has but they have made an instant impact on the company and have provided the fans with another level of excitement within the company.

In 2017 SPW New Zealand agreed on a working partnership with Melbourne City Wrestling in Australia. The two of them utilize this partnership to help get a larger outreach to the rest of the world so more eyes can be on both of their products.

In July of 2019, the two companies for the first time are teaming up to present a New Zealand and Australia super show. The Southern Rumble is the largest event for SPW New Zealand and features an epic battle royal.

With this service, you are also able to check out previous events from SPW New Zealand and get better familiarized with the company and their very short history as they continue to rise to the top of the professional wrestling world.

There is a remarkable documentary series that SPW New Zealand put together which chronicles their company from the start right up to today and it is well worth taking a look at. The series is available through the SPW wrestling on the edge of the world app.

Immerse yourself in the wonderfully well crafted and extremely well-produced series from SPW New Zealand.

SPW New Zealand may be a young company, but it has managed to make such a huge splash almost overnight through hard work and determination.

It is only a matter of time before the rest of the world begins to recognize the immense amount of untapped talent that the Country of New Zealand is producing. This is an account of the early days of Southern Pro Wrestling New Zealand.
