AEW will be holding its second event, Fyter Fest, on June 29th from Daytona Beach, Florida. Earlier today, it was announced that four rising talents will square off in a four-way match. “Hangman” Adam Page, who won the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing, will be squaring off with Jungle Boy, Jimmy Havoc, and Maxwell Jacob Friedman, all of whom were involved in the Casino Battle Royale to varying degrees.
The four-way match between Page, Jungle Boy, Havoc, and MJF was announced during episode 156 of “Being the Elite.” During a phone call with AEW Executive Vice President Nick Jackson, Page expressed that he wanted to compete against MJF at Fyter Fest. Jackson countered, however, citing booking problems. Ultimately, Jackson offered the idea of a four-way match that will feature not only Page and MJF, but Havoc and Jungle Boy, the latter being showed grocery shopping with Luchasaurus.
Sutter’s Synopsis: With this match announcement, the card for Fyter Fest has become that much richer. In fact, I would make the argument that this bout will be a showcase of AEW’s future. Even Havoc, who just turned 35, is likely to be with AEW for some time to come. When it comes to wrestlers that can theoretically usher the promotion forward, ensuring that it succeeds for years to come, it can be easy to look at the individuals involved and safely assume that they’ll be responsible.
As far as who will come away the victor, smart money is on either Page or MJF. As stated earlier, Page won the Casino Battle Royale, so it would make sense to continually feature him prominently. What better way to continue his momentum than to have him win this match? On the other hand, MJF was one of the standouts in the Casino Battle Royale, showcasing arrogance that few heels in professional wrestling can muster. No matter who viewers may have pegged to win this match, it will be, as mentioned earlier, a showcase.
