Riot City Wrestling has been producing some incredible wrestling, so you would expect nothing less from their most recent event Megaslam 2019. Megaslam 2019 is now available from the Riot City Wrestling YouTube channel. Just as a very fair warning if you want to go and enjoy Megaslam 2019 spoiler-free then I suggest doing so before continuing this article because from here on in the spoilers are about to come your way.
The show opens up with a very interesting encounter. Kit Condor who is a young graduate of the Riot City Wrestling academy had managed to get some solid momentum going for himself early on in his young career. Bulldog or Torino is one half of the well-known tag team The Rude Ones. Torino is also a former RCW Champion so quite a tall order for young Kit Condor to overcome. There is a lot of quick pacing in this matchup between these two men. Torino manages to keep Kit Condor grounded for a good portion of the matchup which takes away the young man’s high flying arsenal that has largely relied upon. Kit Condor finally manages to hit his signature move known as flipping the bird and it is enough for Kit Condor to get a three count over Torino. A surprising finish to say the least but a very solid match to start the night off and get the RCW crowd excited for the night at hand.
Singles competition in our next match saw two former RCW Women’s Champions squaring off with hopes to try and earn their next championship opportunity. This match has some incredible back and forth between these two evenly matched competitors. Miki Fortune is an absolute savage inside the ring and truly shows it in this match. Savannah Summers shows that she is willing to do whatever it takes to win when she pulls out the legs of Miki Fortune while she was on the top ropes. This led to Miki Fortune coming crashing down and slamming her head right into the top turnbuckle on her way down. We would not end up getting a winner in this match those as both women managed to get count out resulting in a no contest. On the plus side, this is the perfect way to build upon a great feud and there is much more than these two women have got to offer the residents of Riot City.

In a Strength Cup quarter-final match two heavy favorites to win the entire tournament square off. Rocky Menero takes on Chris Basso in what many were certain would end up being one of the best matches of the entire evening. Well, the controversy would surround a comment such as that now as we were not exactly treated to much of a match at all. That is not to say that this encounter was not memorable though. The match comes to somewhat of a halt part way in as it appears that Rocky Menero goes down as a result of a foot or leg injury. The refs check up on Rocky Menero to see if he is okay or even capable of carrying on with his match. Chris Basso helps Rocky Menero to his feet in a show of good sportsmanship but the script gets flipped from there as Rocky Menero takes this opportunity to roll up Chris Basso and steal the win. It is a dirty trick but it was all it took in order for Rocky Menero to seal his place in the semi-finals of the 2019 Strength Cup.

In the next quarterfinal match in the Strength Cup, it is Kurt Baron vs Steve Miller. Jimmy C is in the corner of Steve Miller for this match and acts as quite the distraction to Kurt Baron at a point in this matchup. Steve Miller attempts to use quickness to take the big man Kurt Baron down early on in the matchup. Despite some great efforts early on the physical size if Kurt Baron begins to take over as he unleashes a fury upon Steve Miller. There is a great moment in the match when both men are riding on the top rope with their family jewels. The senior referee who at this point has had enough of the shenanigans of these two competitors grabs the rope and shakes it cause some extra pain and discomfort to both wrestlers. Jimmy C does his best to protest the ref’s involvement in the match and even dares to put his hands on the referee, so in response, Jimmy C gets shoved to the ground and then evicted from ringside entirely. During all the commotion Kurt Baron manages to take advantage of the situation and picks up the victory and advancing himself to the semi-finals of the Strength Cup.

Tony Toro and Cadie Tre is a match that was bound to be a crowd pleaser. Tony Toro went off to harness his craft by getting extra training from the legendary Lance Storm in Canada and now he feels that his extra knowledge and experience makes him a top contender to win the tournament. Cadie Tre may have kept his time to working in Australia he has still managed to cement himself as one of the most exciting new talents in the world. There is a lot of excellent technical skill presented by Tony Toro and some remarkable counters to all of it as well. These two men manage to put on one of the best performances of the entire night. Cadie Tre manages to hit force feed to put Tony Toro down for the three count and advancing Cadie Tre to the semi-finals of the Strength Cup.

Dean Brady vs James Kray is what a wrestling fan longs to see especially when you have invested time in the story behind such a match. Dean Brady and James Kray are the former members of the team The Millennials but they have had their differences over the last while. This was a match that was begging to happen and it happens with a spot in the semifinals of the Strength Cup up for grabs. Dean Brady is wearing black tape over his shoulder and arm area which is the result of the attack he suffered while at HQ during ReAnimated. Kray knowing his partner manages to spend a lot of time focusing on taking the arm of Brady out and preventing him from his arsenal of slams that he really enjoys utilizing in his matches. Despite the terrible condition of his arm Dean Brady still manages to have some magic moments and display his tremendous strength. Dean Brady does manage to pull off the win but it ends up being slightly controversial. Kray had Dean Brady in a submission hold, while in it Brady manages to roll Kray into a pin and collect the three count all while looking as though he may have tapped out. The referee awards the match to Dean Brady and he will continue on to the semi-finals of the Strength Cup but you can bet Kray is not going to take this well and we have definitely not seen an end to the animosity between these two wrestlers.

There is a little bit of a twist in the tag team championship match. Big Brodie Marshall gets on the microphone and informers the fans that he is injured and is unable to compete. This provokes the Armstrongs to believe that they win as a result of a forfeit of the match. This is not the case as there is still a third member of Gods & Monsters in the form of Miki Fortune. Miki had competed earlier in the night against Savannah Summers but she was definitely up for the task in teaming up with Viking Grimm to try and earn herself the RCW Tag Team Championship. There is a lot of excellent teamwork from both teams here. While we would expect to see great teamwork from the Armstrongs the big surprise in this encounter is the seamless ring chemistry between Viking Grimm and Miki Fortune. The match ends up ending in disqualification, so Gods & Monsters end up victorious but the champions advantage rules come in to play here so the Armstrongs manage to hold on to their RCW Tag Team Championship belts.
Megalslam did a lot of preparation work for their upcoming Strength Cup which promises to be an absolutely stacked card. Megaslam also featured what started off innocently enough as a retirement announcement for Joe Grecco. Joe Grecco was then undeservingly kicked by Matt Hayter which provoked RCW Heavyweight Champion Zak Sabbath to hit the ring and come to the aid of the retired RCW employee. Zak Sabbath then delivers a masterful promo challenging Matt Hayter to an RCW Heavyweight Championship match for Strength Cup. Great pacing and some solid in-ring action make Megaslam entirely worth the time to check out. RCW also features some incredible production values and do a superb job of the video work that they upload to their YouTube channel. Megalsma 2019 was definitely a hit and will get you excited for the Strength Cup, so a big thumbs up to go out to Megaslam 2019 and the hard-working women and men of RCW who made it possible. In the end, the match of the entire night will go to Dean Brady and James Kray as this match just had so much behind it and is left in a way that will keep you wanting more from these two wrestlers as well.
