Two guys walk back into a bar, neither holding a beverage of choice, but arguably cursed by the WiFi Gods who imposed their will on their recording in episode 26 of the Pro Wrestling Post Podcast.

But in the bar, the focus turned to alliances, factions, and groups in wrestling history. What initially began as an exploration of factions of the 1980s in major promotions turned into a National Wrestling Alliance/World Championship Wrestling factions-specific focus.

In the latest edition of the podcast, our resident Commonwealth connection explored our earliest inception of wrestling factions growing up and what stood out to us both in the first part of our look at wrestling factions through the ages.

    The Dangerous Alliance

In this particular episode, we began to discuss Paul Heyman’s faction, the Dangerous Alliance. From its surprising origins to where it gained the most notoriety to the parody that spawned from the group.

With the names and faces that made up the group have had legendary Hall of Fame careers, the one constant has been Paul E. Dangerously and his “magical dust” from which all who worked with him benefited.

Blake and Madison discuss their initial thoughts about the faction and what made them so memorable. The co-hosts also discuss which names stood out from the group and why.

With a Hall of Fame career under his belt, there was no denying Paul Heyman and his Dangerous Alliance in wrestling history.

Legion of Doom / Road Warriors

Marc Madison and Mark Blake shared their earliest memories of the team that was once a faction. The two co-hosts would share of the importance of Precious Paul Ellering and the group as a whole.

From the initial inclusion of Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts and King Kong Bundy in the Legion of Doom to the evolution of the makeup of the group, the Legion of Doom has made an indelible mark on wrestling history.

After discussing the group’s final incarnation as LOD 2000 and Paul Ellering’s replacement with Sunny, the hosts didn’t feel that was a fair lasting memory of easily one of the most popular groups in wrestling history.

The discussion of the group led to another discussion on the lore of the Legion of Doom and those who had initially been tied to the group.

It felt as though with more Blake and Madison discussed the Road Warriors, the more they wondered why they didn’t remain.

A group as synonymous with their Iron Man entrance theme, shoulder pads, and their ‘pop’ was a talking point in this particular episode.

    The Four Horsemen

As the discussion turned to the most meaningful and notable factions in wrestling, the symbol of excellence was the only obvious next choice. While the names often changed within the group, the two constants, Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, remained.

Throughout the discussion, the names that often changed were significant. However, Blake and Madison discussed the necessity of the group’s interchangeable members.

Did Sid Vicious need to be in the group? Was Sting needed in the group? And the often-maligned Paul Roma’s inclusion in the group was also a point of discussion.
