It is time for the AEW Double or Nothing 2021 preview! It will be a bittersweet moment for me yet again. I was going to be at Double or Nothing in person when the show was in Las Vegas. But this huge pay-per-view will remain in Jacksonville. The great news is it will have a full sold-out crowd. AEW has built a huge, stacked card for their biggest show of the year. Let us look at what should be a fun Sunday night.

    Serena Deeb (c) vs. Riho
    (NWA World Women’s Championship)

This pre-show match-up is certainly a pleasant surprise. Serena Deeb has been arguably the best performer in the AEW Women’s Division in recent months. An injury put her on the shelf for a few months, but she returned impressively against Red Velvet on a recent AEW Dynamite. Deeb’s next opponent is a surprising one.

Riho returned to AEW after a long Pandemic absence. She hasn’t had a lot to do since her return. Can the first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion pull off a huge upset? This could be an early show stealer at AEW Double or Nothing.

    Hangman Page vs. Brian Cage

Hangman Page has been on the roll of his life. He has been unstoppable in singles matches in recent months. It seems he was clearly being built for the future and a AEW World Championship match. That is until he met Brian Cage on a recent Dynamite.

We certainly had some outside distractions, but Brian Cage was able to pin Hangman Page clean. It was a shocking moment, albeit a big one for Team Taz. Page will get his rematch on AEW Double or Nothing. Can Page get back on track and get his revenge over Cage? I am sure Team Taz might have some factor in this match.

    Casino Battle Royale
(Winner Gets an AEW World Championship Match)

The Casino Battle Royale makes it return at AEW Double or Nothing! The unique poker card-based Battle Royale will take place on Sunday Night with a future World Championship match on the line. The stakes are certainly high.

The favorite of the twenty-one competitors has to be Christian Cage. Can he live up to the hype and win his biggest match to date? He will have to get through twenty other competitors and other favorites like Penta El Zero Miedo, Powerhouse Hobbs, Matt Hardy, and Jungle Boy. We know this match will be some real chaotic fun yet again.

Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Britt Baker
    (AEW Women’s World Championship)

Hikaru Shida has been the AEW Women’s World Championship for over a year now. She has certainly carried the division during this Pandemic year and taken down all challengers. But Shida has disappeared from AEW Dynamite for long stretches of time. Will she be ready for her biggest challenge to date to her lengthy reign?

Britt Baker has been one of the most entertaining characters in AEW over the past year. Everyone’s favorite dentist has thrived with some great heel promos. She has been demanding a title shot for a long time. She gets her big chance at Double or Nothing. Can she back up her words in the ring? If she does, Baker will certainly become the most entertaining champion in all of AEW.

Sting & Darby Allin vs. Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky

Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky are out for vengeance.  They were a major factor in Darby Allin’s TNT title loss when they threw him down the cement steps the week before his match against Miro. Page and Sky even attacked Sting ringside during the title match the following week. They seem to be jealous of the attention Sting has been getting since his debut. They will get their chance to showcase their skills in a huge tag team match.

The biggest storyline of this match is Sting. It will be his first match in front of a live crowd in nearly six years. How will the 62-year-old Sting look in the ring after all this time? It will be a surreal moment for sure. Can he keep up with the other three in this match? Time will tell.

    Cody Rhodes vs. Anthony Ogogo

This match has certainly been set up like a big boxing match. Anthony Ogogo of “The Factory” has played up his boxing background and his British heritage. Will, his deadly right hand take down his biggest opponent to date? We know QT Marshall will be bragging about it if he does.

Cody Rhodes has been playing up the American patriotic angle as well. Cody has said, for one night only; he will be the American Dream. What will he have in store for the AEW audience on this special night? We know Cody will pull out all the stops.

The Young Bucks (c) vs. Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston
    (AEW World Tag Team Championship)

The Young Bucks are back to their obnoxious and cocky selves after joining Kenny Omega and The Elite yet again. They have been mocking their opponents during matches but are still finding ways to win their tag title defenses in recent weeks. At Double or Nothing, they will be facing a very dangerous duo.

Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley have made a dangerous team since joining up at AEW Revolution in March. They have constantly been attacking The Elite in recent weeks on Dynamite. They have recently turned their sights to the Young Bucks in the past few weeks. Can Moxley and Kingston take down the Jackson Brothers? It is hard to say, but it will be fun to watch them try on Sunday night.

AEW Double or Nothing 2021 Preview
     Miro (c) vs. Lance Archer
    (AEW TNT Championship)

At last year’s AEW Double or Nothing, Lance Archer lost the match to Cody Rhodes in the final to determine the first-ever AEW TNT Championship. The “Murderhawk” has been looking for an opportunity to get back into the title hunt ever since. In this year’s AEW Double or Nothing, Archer will finally get the chance yet again. But is he ready for a determined and dangerous Miro?

Miro has a rough 2020 in AEW. He was the “Best Man.” He was more concerned about helping prepare for Kip Sabin’s wedding and video games than winning matches. This has changed in recent weeks as Miro’s vicious side is on full display. He has destroyed his opponents with fierce and brutal attacks. It culminated with his victory over Darby Allin to win the AEW TNT Championship. But Lance Archer will be quite a challenge for the new champion. This will likely be the hardest-hitting match of the entire card.

Kenny Omega (c) vs. Orange Cassidy vs. PAC
    (AEW World Championship)

Kenny Omega has been on quite the roll in recent months. He is the AAA Mega Champion. He won the Impact World Championship. Omega has now been the AEW World Champion for over six months. The arrogant champion has been very busy defending his many titles in recent months. But on Sunday night, he faces a far different challenge.

He will be involved in a rare triple threat match at AEW Double or Nothing. He will have to deal with Orange Cassidy and PAC to retain his AEW World Championship. And with it being a triple threat match, he doesn’t have to be involved in the decision to lose his AEW title. Can he keep his focus against the always dangerous PAC and a highly motivated Orange Cassidy? If he doesn’t, he could be losing his title on Sunday night in Jacksonville.

    The Pinnacle
(MJF, Shawn Spears, Wardlow, Cash Wheeler, and Dax Harwood) vs. The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana, and Ortiz)
    (Stadium Stampede Match)

It is Stadium Stampede time yet again! Last year, The Elite defeated The Inner Circle in an entertaining, cinematic match. The Inner Circle returns to Stadium Stampede, and the stakes couldn’t be any higher. If they lose, The Inner Circle are done as a team.

The feud between The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle has been a personal one since March. It seemed to reach its end on May 5th during the Blood & Guts match. The Pinnacle won the day and wanted to move on. The Inner Circle had other plans and demanded this Stadium Stampede match. They got their wish but only after putting their group’s future on the line.

Will this be the end of the Inner Circle? They are the oldest faction in all of AEW, dating back to the first Dynamite on October 2, 2019. It is hard to say, but we know they will pull out all the stops on Sunday night. It could be a fun way to end a great night of wrestling.
