Yesterday on Twitter, WWE Superstar Sami Zayn announces the launch of a new mobile clinic in Sami for Syria. In 2017, the Syrian-Canadian superstar launched the “Sami for Syria” campaign, alongside the Syrian American Medical Society. The 2017 campaign was ultimately successful, funding the operation of a mobile clinic for 1 year, aiding 11,000 people.

Zayn launched this second campaign in the summer of 2019, in response to the escalating violence in Syria. Aggressors in Northwestern Syria targeted medical facilities, often destroying them entirely. As such, access to medical care became scarce and often dangerous. “A mobile clinic will be safely able to deliver medical aid to displaced and injured civilians,” Sami said in a launch video just under a year ago. “Now, the goal we are trying to reach is $50,000. This will help us procure a vehicle, convert it into a mobile medical unit, and keep all of the necessary medications on hand for it. And I know with your help, we can get there in no time.”
Sami Zayn Announces Sami For Syria Success
According to the SAMS website “The Sami For Syria mobile clinic is traveling from area to area in northwest Syria, delivering life-saving care to families and children who have been affected by years of conflict and ongoing hardship.” However, the work is not yet done. “We need your help to continue operating the Sami for Syria Mobile Clinic,” says SAMS. “We still have to cover the cost of fuel, warehouse rent and other operational needs. The Syrian crisis is one of the worst humanitarian emergencies of our time. Northwest Syria is one of the most at-risk areas for a large-scale COVID-19 epidemic.”
What’s Next For Sami Zayn?
Sami Zayn has been away from WWE TV since April of this year, citing concerns about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In May, WWE stripped Sami of the Intercontinental Championship, before announcing a tournament for the vacant title. WWE has since explained that Sami is injured, but has not given a timetable for his return.
