Raw Rebound 12/30/19 (Lana Wedding)

The last RAW of 2019. The last RAW of the decade. Are we in for a great show? With the announced Lana & Lashley wedding as our main event, I’m thinking that it may be a strange end to the year/decade…

Kevin Owens kicked off Monday Night Raw by talking about the attacks he’s been suffering at the hands of Seth Rollins and the AOP. The trio interrupted Owens, and Seth Rolins told him it was his own fault for not seeing the bigger picture. That the WWE Universe brought it all upon themselves. Owens, who was ready and expecting to be beatdown, wasted little time charging up the ramp and taking the fight to Seth and The AOP.

As the numbers game slowly began to overwhelm Kevin, Samoa Joe’s music hit. And out he came out to make the save. Joe had also been a victim of Seth and the AOP, after being thrown through the announce table. Kevin and Joe held their own against Rollins and the AOP and eventually security had to brought out. That didn’t stop Kevin Owens as he climbed the top rope and delivered a Senton Bomb to Rollins, The AOP, and the security team.

Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black took on each other in another thrilling series of matches between the two. With Black having won the last match, Murphy looked to rebound and tie things up at one apiece. There was some early showmanship, as Murphy imitated Black’s Indian style pose only to have Black return the favor. The two exchanged kicks and knee strikes as well as poses. Buddy Murphy gave a valiant effort but this bout belonged to Aleister Black, who hit two Black Mass kicks to pick up the victory.

Erick Rowan (and his cage) decimated another local jobber. This time, the unnamed competitor simply tried to escape The Redwood. He crawled under the ring and ended up exiting right near Rowan’s little cage. He must have been too close for Rowan’s comfort because he dropped him with a big boot and an Iron Claw Slam for the win.

Charlotte Flair entered the ring to talk about….herself. She put over her many accolades.  Her ten women’s championship reigns as well as her main eventing a pay-per-view. Charlotte then declared herself an entrant in the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble. That made her the first superstar, male or female, to state their Rumble intentions.

Natalya answered Charlotte’s dubious “bow to the queen” challenge and their match got underway. Flair tried to gain some momentum by sending Natalya outside of the ring. Out of nowhere, R-Truth appeared! He had several superstars giving chase trying to secure the WWE 24/7 Championship. The match continued but not before one of the chasing superstars slid into the ring and ate a massive boot from Charlotte. The distractions weren’t enough to take The Queen’s focus off Natalya as she eventually locked on the Figure Eight and made her tap for the win.

AJ Styles and The OC cut an in-ring promo. They talk about their recent dominance of the Raw Tag Team Champions, The Viking Raiders. They also had their “Best Tag Team In The World” trophy that they won in Saudi Arabia. The OC were interrupted by the Street Profits. They reminded Gallows and Anderson that when they debuted on Monday Night Raw, they picked up a victory over the OC.

Ford and Dawkins came prepared to fight, which is exactly what they did. AJ Styles was ejected from ringside after trying to insert himself illegally into the match. With the one-man advantage out of the way, The Street Profits would pick up another win over Gallows and Anderson.

After brutalizing Zacky Ryder and Curt Hawkins last week, Drew McIntyre prepared to face the former tag team champions in a handicap match. He asked a fan if he should be nervous heading into the match. There were no nerves, just a couple of Claymore Kicks to both Ryder and Hawkins for the 1-2-3.

Randy Orton came out to the ring with a heavy knee brace and crutches. He was injured at a house show this past weekend. He took the Mark Henry approach and talked about his career coming to an end, which brought out The Phenomenal One. AJ made fun of Orton’s injury before kicking one of the crutches out from under him and telling him he’d see Orton at WrestleMania. Orton’s response was that he couldn’t wait that long because he’s impatient. RKO outta nowhere dropped Styles where he stood! Orton shook off his injury to drop one last RKO before the year ended.

The United States Champion, Andrade along with Zelina Vega took on a local jobber. Andrade attempted to assault his competitor the same way he did Humberto Carrillo last week. Ricochet would make the save and issue a one-on-one challenge to Andrade. The match went back and forth but ended with some trickery. As Zelina shoved Ricochet off the top rope while the referee wasn’t looking. This allowed Andrade to nail a Hammerlock DDT on Ricochet to pick up the victory.

The wedding of Lana and Bobby Lashley was supposed to be the highlight of the show. And it was…for all the wrong reasons. Lana blabbed on and on about Lana, she even wrote Lashley’s vows for him. The standard wedding objection saw Lana’s former spouse and Lashley’s former spouse each telling the other not to do it.

Liv Morgan also objected because the love of her life was in the ring and she wasn’t talking about Bobby Lashley. She revealed her crush on Lana which lead to a brawl between the two ladies. As they fought, Rusev popped out of a giant wedding cake to destroy Bobby Lashley. The show ended with Rusev and Liv chanting “Rusev Day.”

What's up folks, I'm Hab and I've been a wrestling fan for more than thirty years. I grew up on the NWA and Crockett Promotions in the Triad City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. My favorite wrestler of all time is Bret Hart. At the moment, I'm a Cesaro hipster and The World's Biggest Luke Harper fan. I was at the Smackdown! taping when Brock Lesnar threw Zach Gowen down a flight of steps in the New Orleans Arena and laughed about it for the next two days. I have a few loves in my life, my beautiful daughter, my family, professional wrestling and hip-hop are just some of them.
