DDT Announced King of DDT Tournament participants

During their weekly TV Show #8, DDT announced the participants and first-round matchups for their upcoming annual King of DDT Tournament.

As always, it will be a single elimination bracket style taking place across three nights in August. The semi-final and final of the tournament will culminate on August 23rd at Korakuen Hall.

Past winners have included the likes of Kota Ibushi, Harashima, Kenny Omega, Tetsuya Endo, and was won last year by All out’s Konosuke Takeshita all of who are huge names in wrestling.

The tournament will also see an unknown entrant in the second round via a battle royal between all those who lost in the first round. This is a great opportunity for those who may have narrowly lost in their matches and give them a chance to make it all the way. It also creates a possibility for a huge upset in the tournament.

By winning the tournament, the wrestler usually receives a shot at the KO-D Openweight championship and normally the champion does not participate. However, this year, champion Endo can participate. As well as allowing Endo to get his hands on another title, it also makes his job as champion a lot harder. For the participants, it makes the stakes a lot higher. The chance to stake a claim to challenging for the title if they pin Endo.

With so many amazing athletes involved, there is bound to be some amazing matches throughout the tournament. It also makes predicting a winner even harder. Many fans will be waiting with bated breath to see if they can correctly predict the brackets from the first to the final round. Stay tuned for more details.
