AEW Dynamite Weekly for 3/11/20 (Page/Rhodes vs Guevara/Jericho)

AEW Dynamite kicks off with a recap of last week’s episode featuring Moxley challenging the Inner Circle and their attack on him at the end of the night. Tony Schiavone asks Hangman Page who his mystery partner is going to be tonight in the main event. He’s joined by the Young Bucks but basically tells them they aren’t good enough, and his partner will remain a mystery. Could a Rhodes family member team with Page against Guevara and Jericho?

Our opening match starts with Cody and Ortiz running the ropes. Cody hits a dropkick and gets Ortiz in the corner. Ortiz out of the corner and runs into a power slam.

Cody tosses Ortiz back in the ring and hits a backbreaker for a two count. Cody then locks in a half crab. Ortiz reaches the rope for a break then gets in a couple of shots before Cody hits a drop-down uppercut. The referee is distracted by Ortiz faking an injury. This allows Santana to try to hit Cody, but Cody catches him. Taking advantage of the distraction, Ortiz kicks out Cody’s leg. He then tosses Cody outside where Santana gets a hit in before Anderson comes over to stop him. After tossing Ortiz towards the corner, he mounts the rope for ten punches.

Santana distracts the ref while Ortiz runs up on Cody in the corner to knock him down. Cody then reverses a superplex attempt and drops Ortiz off the top, but Santana grabs Cody’s leg to stop him from going after Ortiz. Brandi rushes over and slaps Santana with her belt. Ortiz back up on the rope and hits the superplex for another two count. Santana tries to start a fight with Anderson on the outside and Cody hits a dive on him. Ortiz tries to dive on Cody, but Cody catches him and hits a suplex on the entrance ramp.

Nyla tags in Priestley who continues beating down Hikaru before hitting a hard kick to the back and choking her on the rope. Bea goes for a failed pin attempt before tagging Nyla back in. Hikaru tries to fight back but gets kicked in the back when she hits the rope by Bea. Hikaru is able to knock Nyla back into her corner and both women tag their partners as they cut to commercial.

(I feel like this was someone else’s gimmick). Big Swole comes out to interrupt. Britt tells Swole the only person in Swole’s household who is relevant in wrestling is her boyfriend (Cedric Alexander in WWE, for those not in the know). Swole shows off her ring and reminds Britt she’s married. Britt throws water in her face and runs away.
