Last week, AEW World Champion MJF faced Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship as we preview AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 4/22/26.
MJF didn’t know he was facing Allin before arriving at the arena on Wednesday night. In just two minutes, Darby shocked the world and won the AEW World Championship for the very first time.
We will also see Will Ospreay and Hikaru Shida in action too. Let us learn more about this loaded card in Portland in the latest edition of AEW Ignite.

Mina Shirakawa vs. Hikaru Shida
Since her return in early April, Hikaru Shida has had success teaming up with Kris Statlander. They have picked up two tag team victories on AEW Collision in recent weeks. But Mina Shirakawa is less than thrilled with the new partnership.
After last week’s AEW Collision, Mina Shirakawa confronted Shida. Mina told Kris Statlander that Hikaru Shida could not be trusted.
Shirakawa seems to be looking into who took Toni Storm out of action. She is now placing some potential blame on Shida now.
On Wednesday night, Shida and Shirakawa will face off in Portland. Mina Shirakawa has had some success in tag team action in AEW but hasn’t won a singles match since early February. Can she control her emotions and pick up a huge victory over the former AEW Champion?

Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis
Will Ospreay had a heartbreaking loss to Jon Moxley at AEW Dynasty. But he didn’t feel sorry for himself. He got right back into action last week against Hechicero. After 17 gruelling minutes, Will Ospreay survived and picked up the huge victory.
His celebration post-match was short lived. Mark Davis, also of the Don Callis Family, attacked Ospreay. A match was set for this week’s AEW Dynamite in Portland.
Will Ospreay is certainly dealing with a few injuries these days. Is taking a match with Davis wise just one week after Hechicero? Can Ospreay pull off another huge victory under these circumstances? Time will certainly tell.

Darby Allin (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa
(AEW World Championship)
It was a shocking moment when Darby Allin defeated MJF for the AEW World Championship after just two minutes. Sure, a low blow and four Coffin Drops certainly helped. But Darby Allin is a deserving champion after all these years in this company.
Anyone expecting Darby Allin to take it easy knows nothing about the new AEW World Champion. He will face the dangerous Tommaso Ciampa for the title in Portland. That is certainly a tough first test.
Ciampa pulled off a huge victory over Dezmond Xavier last week. After the match, he delivered a promo demanding a World Title shot.
He didn’t have to wait long as the “Psycho Killer” got a shot at Darby this Wednesday night. Will Darby be ready for sure for a physical test? If he isn’t it might just be a short AEW World title reign.
What To Expect:
- Will anyone step up to face FTR?
- What will Chris Jericho do next in his feud with Ricochet?
- What is next for the Don Callis Family with the growing issues between Okada and Takeshita?
