Over the past few months, AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been subjected to numerous assaults at the hands of mysterious masked men working on behalf of an individual wearing MJF’s iconic Devil mask.

On last week’s AEW Dynamite, The Devil challenged MJF to defend the ROH World Tag Team Championships at New Year’s Smash. MJF accepted the challenge and got his reluctant ally Samoa Joe to help him on Wednesday night.

MJF has been vigilant in his defenses of the ROH World Tag Team Championship since winning the titles with Adam Cole back in August at All-In. But can he survive this challenge?

We still don’t know who the Devil’s Masked Men are, and Samoa Joe isn’t exactly MJF’s friend. Joe is just keeping Max healthy before their AEW World Championship match at World’s End. Can this partnership hold until Saturday night? Find out on this week’s exciting AEW Dynamite!

In a shocking twist, the Continental Classic Gold League Finals will be contested in a triple-threat match! All three competitors ended the round-robin tournament with twelve points, and all suffered just one loss each.

To make matters more interesting, each man’s one loss was to one of his opponents this Wednesday night. It couldn’t be a more competitive Gold League final.

Jon Moxley was on fire in Gold League winning his first four matches before losing on the final night to Jay White. Jay White lost an early match to Swerve Strickland but rebounded to win his final three matches in the Gold League.

Strickland lost a controversial match against Jon Moxley in the tournament but won the rest of his matches. This final could not be any closer. Who will win and go onto the finals at World’s End?

Bryan Danielson has been wrestling the Continental Classic with an eye injury. Despite this, he still led the Blue League with ten points. Can he pull off another improbable win and advance to the finals at AEW Worlds End? It would be another incredible achievement in the final full-time year of his career.

In the Blue League finals, Bryan Danielson meets Eddie Kingston. The ROH World Champion and NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion lost the first two matches in Blue League, but pulled off an incredible comeback to reach the Blue League finals.

However, Kingston has never defeated Bryan Danielson. Can the ultimate underdog overcome the American Dragon and keep his dreams of the Triple Crown Championship alive? It will be a special way to end New Year’s Smash.

What To Expect:

  • Who will be Chris Jericho’s partner for AEW Worlds End?
  • What is next in the Adam Copeland-Christian Cage’s very personal feud?
  • Will we learn more matches for AEW Worlds End?
