MLW presents Never Say Never from Miami, Florida on December 13th! This is the first night a huge doubleheader as the promotion makes its debut in the Miami area. There are several huge matches, and many have huge implications as well. Without further ado, let’s get to the action.
Pentagon, Jr. (Cornered by Konnan) vs. Teddy Hart
We have one half of the Lucha Brothers taking on one-third of the Hart Foundation. The Hart Foundation would very much like a chance at the Lucha Brothers’ MLW Tag Team Championships. If Teddy Hart were able to get a win over on Pentagon, they would be in the consideration for a title shot. With his brother Rey Fenix out injured, Pentagon is in a unique position to shine on his own. Of course, whenever you see one member of the Hart Foundation, one or both other members aren’t far away. The drawback to Fenix being out of the picture is that Pentagon has no back-up aside from his manager Konnan. The prior attack on Kevin Sullivan proves the Hart Foundation has no qualms about laying hands on a legend. Speaking of Kevin Sullivan, he could be lurking as he is close to being cleared by doctors.
Falls Count Anywhere in Miami
LA Park (presented by Salina de la Renta) vs. Sami Callihan
This match was originally scheduled to be a rematch between LA Park and PCO, but PCO pulled out of the fight. A very suitable replacement was found in Sami Callihan. This one is going to be a straight-up fight and not just because it’s falls count anywhere. Park and Callihan are both equally unpredictable and violent. We have seen in many examples, even in recent weeks, of each man’s mean streaks. Neither needs much of a reason to get violent either. So if you enjoy violence, this one will satiate your needs. It all goes down, falls count ANYWHERE in Miami at Never Say Never!
No Holds Barred Fight
“Filthy” Tom Lawlor vs. Simon Gotch
Unlike the last match where there was no history, there is plenty of history here. Up until very recently, Simon Gotch was a trusted member of Team Filthy. Until Gotch decided money was more important than loyalty. Following his victory over Sami Callihan, Tom Lawlor met Gotch backstage who led him to what he believed to be a press conference. Instead, it was a lion’s den. Lawlor found himself surrounded by all fighters from Promociones Dorado. Gotch, a cackling villain, shut the door and turned his back on Tom and Team Filthy. The next week, he received his riches from Salina de la Renta for the job.
Gotch was able to avoid Tom Lawlor in Chicago, but now there is nowhere to run. This will be a no holds barred fight and the only way to win is by knockout or submission. Neither man is a stranger to a big fight situation. Lawlor perhaps has an advantage with anger and revenge being huge motivators. Former teammates will square off and only one man is going to be lucky enough to walk away.
RUSH vs. Shane “Swerve” Strickland
The leader of Los Ingobernables, RUSH, just made his MLW debut this past week on MLW Fusion. Shane Strickland has been on a downward spiral since his loss of the MLW World Championship. His attitude has soured as well, and he has taken to accusing MLW management of working against him. It’ll be interesting to see what side of Shane Strickland we see at Never Say Never. RUSH has stated his intention is to fight LA Park. While he was successful in his debut, he had better not overlook his current opponent en route to his prize.
Dragon Lee vs. Rich Swann
This will be Dragon Lee’s MLW debut! The 23-year-old from Mexico, despite his youth and short career thus far, is very well-traveled. He has worked with CMLL, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor this year alone. He was also trained by some of the same wrestlers who trained RUSH. As a high-flyer, there’s hardly a better opponent you could ask for than Rich Swann. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has been everywhere this year, working for companies like IMPACT Wrestling, AAW, CZW, and many others. Swann is not your everyday high-flyer and risk taker either, he’s very eccentric. He thinks outside of the box when it comes to combinations and incorporates dance moves as well. This one will be a special, special treat at MLW Never Say Never.
DJZ vs Hijo de LA Park (presented by Salina de la Renta)
The resident DJ of MLW is set to take on El Hijo de LA Park of Promociones Dorado. Hijo de LA Park, much like LA Park, has a mean and violent streak in him. Both can fly high with the best of them, so it will be an even match-up in that regard. It could also put them in the path of a potential Middleweight Championship shot, depending on their performance. Salina de la Renta would love nothing more than to bring MORE gold to her stable.
Dezmond Xavier vs. Andrew Everett
This will another showcase of high-flying as both men make their MLW debuts. They are no stranger to one another, as both appear for IMPACT Wrestling as well as several major indies. Dezmond is part of the highly successful team known as The Rascalz with Zachary Wentz. Andrew Everett an extreme high-flyer with over a decade of experience under his belt. In their debuts, both are looking to make a huge impression on the fans and MLW matchmakers. Also ahead of the ladder match set for MLW Zero Hour, one would hope to gain an advantage over the other.
Also scheduled to appear are Tommy Dreamer, Kotto Brazil, Barrington Hughes, and Ricky Martinez. MLW is setting the bar high with this killer first night in Miami with Never Say Never.
