IPW:UK & NOAH Junior Heavyweight Tournament: Tuesday 15 January – Unit 9, Milton Keynes
IPW:UK TV Tapings: Wednesday 16 January – Unit 9, Milton Keynes

The folks at IPW:UK are ringing in the new year with a one night tournament to crown an inaugural Junior Heavyweight Champion. Held in conjunction with their Japanese partners, Pro Wrestling NOAH. The entrants are Chris Ridgeway, James Castle, Kid Lykos, Yo-Hey, Ben Basden, Daisuke Harada and HAYATA. I’m not kidding, that line up looks special and this looks like a great card.

The very next night will be the first ever TV tapings for the company as they look forward to seeing their product on The Fight Network UK. Looking to capitalise on the momentum from the night before, IPW management have confirmed that IPW:UK World Heavyweight champion Mark Haskins will be in attendance along with Jonny Storm, the IPW:UK Tag Team Champions The Anti-Fun Police (Deputy Chief Dunne and Los Federales Santos Jr), Chris Ridgeway and many more.

Defiant Wrestling

Defiant Wrestling Loaded: Saturday 5 January – O2 Academy, Newcastle

Defiant Wrestling rose from the ashes of WCPW (What Culture Pro Wrestling) in 2017 and has staked their claim as the promotion of the North East of England. Showing their Loaded shows via their own YouTube channel has made Defiant a definite one to watch over here in the UK. With Rampage Brown spearheading the promotion as their Heavyweight champion, the future looks bright for the young promotion.

This Saturday marks the first time that PAC (the former Adrian Neville) has wrestled in his hometown since his release from the WWE. It’s been announced that he will face off against David Starr, and I can’t wait to see that match on their YouTube channel. Both men are absolute stallions and in great form which makes for an epic match in a great venue in front of a rabid home support!

PROGRESS Wrestling

PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 83 Remove Child Before Ironing: Sunday 20 January – Electric Ballroom, London

Jim, Jon and Glen will be taking PROGRESS Wrestling to their home from home for their first show of the year, and one of their best titles to boot!

Only one match has been announced at the time of writing, and it’s a great match. Timothy Thatcher will be squaring off against Ilja Dragunov. They will be joined by current Atlas Division champion Trent Seven and World Champion WALTER in what will be an always stacked card.

RPW Live At The Cockpit 37: Sunday 6 January – The Cockpit, London
New Years Resolution: Friday 19 January – G Live, Guildford
RPW Live In Bristol: Sunday 27 January – Motion Bristol, Bristol

A big month in store for Rev Pro as they holding four events. The Cockpit shows will have the final stages of the Queen Of The Ring tournament which has competitors such as Kay Lee Ray, Laura Di Matteo and Zan Phoenix among others, and the Sunday show has the mouthwatering prospect of PAC against Zack Sabre Jr, with the possibility of a British Heavyweight Championship (should Zack beat Ishii at Wrestle Kingdom 13). Champion v Champion? Rev Pro v Dragon Gate? OMG!!

New Years Resolution will have Bullet Club in the house as their leader Jay White will be in action versus Chris Ridgeway.

And Bristol will have Will Ospreay showing the crowd why he’s one of the best in the world. Will he be bringing the NEVER Openweight championship with him?

NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool: Saturday 12 January – Empress Ballroom, Blackpool

I don’t need to give a description about this promotion do I?

The first NXT UK Takeover event that completely sold out in under 15 minutes. With a card that includes, Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate/Trent Seven) against Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson/James Drake) to be crowned first ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions. Rhea Ripley will put her Womens title on the line against Toni Storm, Dave Mastiff will face Eddie Dennis in a No DQ match to end this rivalry, and Joe Coffey will go one on one with the UK Champion Pete Dunne with the title up for grabs.

This show will legitimately launch this brand to the world as every single competitor will want to show why NXT UK is the biggest buzz around right now!

That’s my first line up of great action for you this year. I hope you all keep an eye out for those events, or maybe even lucky enough to attend them. Let me know if you do and how the show went. I’d love to hear all about it.
