The rivalry between “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland continues this Wednesday as All Elite Wrestling comes to New Orleans, Louisiana, with AEW Dynamite in the Lakefront Arena as we preview AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 01/31/24!

Last week, the road to AEW Revolution became a little clearer when AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm came face-to-face with Deonna Purrazzo and Adam Copeland defeated Minoru Suzuki in a first time ever match up!

This week’s AEW Dynamite is set to feature a number of interesting encounters as “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland choose each other’s opponents!

Chris Jericho vs. Kyle Fletcher

This past week on AEW Rampage, Don Callis laid out a challenge to Chris Jericho for next week’s Dynamite in New Orleans. There, Chris Jericho will face “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita in a rematch from Japan’s DDT Ultimate Party back in 2023.

However, this week’s Dynamite sees Chris Jericho take on Takeshita’s fellow Don Callis Family member and current Ring of Honor World Television Champion Kyle Fletcher.

Fletcher made it clear on AEW Rampage that he deserved the next shot at Jericho, with Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs already having had matches with Jericho in recent memory.

Kyle Fletcher has defended his Ring of Honor World Television Championship three times, with victories over Willie Mack, Angelico and Christopher Daniels. He’ll have to carry this form with him into Wednesday if he has any hope of getting one over on Chris Jericho.

Jericho managed to pick up a victory on AEW Rampage last week against Matt Sydal. Now with Sammy Guevara back at his side, he’ll be hoping that the numbers game isn’t too much of a factor in his match with the Ring of Honor World Television Champion.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Taya Valkyrie

Last week on Dynamite, AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm came face-to-face with Deonna Purrazzo as the two sat down with Renee Paquette at the top of the entrance ramp to finally get some things off their chest.

We’ve all noticed the evolution of Toni Storm and it seemed that Deonna Purrazzo wanted some answers from the AEW Women’s World Champion about why she is how she is now.

Purrazzo even went as far to reference a time when her and Toni Storm lived together and also showed off hers and Toni Storm’s matching ankle tattoos.

Toni Storm however had no interest in reminiscing with Purrazzo and instead intends to keep Purrazzo far away from her championship.

Even so, Storm will once again be on commentary for Purrazzo’s match this Wednesday on Dynamite, where she faces a Taya Valkyrie hungry for a Dynamite win under her belt, having been successful in Ring of Honor recently.

Dealer’s Choice:
“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Toa Liona

In an effort to knock “Hangman” Adam Page off the pace in the hunt for Samoa Joe’s AEW World Championship, Swerve Strickland has chosen The Mogul Embassy’s Toa Liona as Hangman’s opponent for this week’s Dynamite.

Hangman comes into the match fresh off the back of defeating Penta El Zero Miedo on last week’s Dynamite.

Hangman will want a repeat performance, with Swerve’s choice not an unexpected one, though Toa Liona is still dangerous enough without the threat of interference by the rest of The Mogul Embassy.

Toa Liona hasn’t had the best start to 2024. The Mogul Embassy lost their Ring of Honor Six-Man Tag Team Championships to Bullet Club Gold and then failed to capture the AEW World Trios Championships from The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass the following week.

No doubt frustrated over these recent results, Toa Liona will look to take out some anger on “Hangman” Adam Page in their match, which was likely a big factor in Swerve Strickland choosing Liona for the match.

Jon Moxley vs. Jeff Hardy

This Wednesday, we have another first-time match-up heading our way between Jon Moxley and Jeff Hardy.

We’ve seen a lot of Jeff Hardy in recent weeks, as just last week, he lost to Swerve Strickland on Dynamite and found himself on the losing end to Darby Allin not too long ago as well.

Despite being unable to find a win in singles action, both matches showed the world that the veteran can still hang with some of AEW’s top stars, and he’ll be looking to do it again against fierce opposition in Jon Moxley.

Meanwhile, Jon Moxley has been in action against Shane Taylor Promotions on both Collison and Rampage since returning from Japan, where he recently featured at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 18 in the Tokyo Dome.

Shane Taylor Promotions have been no match for Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club, though Hardy will be hoping that he doesn’t suffer the same fate as Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty on Wednesday.

Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman’s Choice

Hangman has selected Swerve Strickland’s opponent for Dynamite this Wednesday but, as Hangman said on AEW Collision, Swerve will have to wait the whole f’n show to find out who it is.

Last time out on Dynamite, Swerve Strickland faced a determined Jeff Hardy in a match that saw Hardy hit Swerve with a twist of fate on the ring steps. Despite Hardy’s best efforts, Swerve got the three after a Swerve stomp from the top rope.

That being said, even with another win under his belt, Swerve can’t have been expecting such a performance out of the veteran Hardy and it may be the case that Hangman has used the match as inspiration for his choice to face Swerve on this week’s Dynamite.

We await confirmation on who exactly Swerve’s opponent will be but if Hangman’s clue is anything to go by then we may be in for a highly anticipated first time match up between Swerve and another high flying and extreme icon of the industry.
