Will MJF lose his hair as we preview AEW Double or Nothing 2026?

AEW  is finally here! The eighth annual event is certainly a massive card. We have five title matches on this Sunday’s card.

Will Cage & Cope retire as a tag team? Who will advance in the Owen Hart Cup? And what crazy things will we see in the Stadium Stampede this year? Let us learn more about the exciting night in New York City!

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
    Will Ospreay vs. Samoa Joe
    (Owen Hart Cup Men’s Quarterfinal)

Will Ospreay has made no secret of his desire to be in the main event of AEW All In at Wembley this August. When he returned at AEW Revolution, it seemed he would be back to his incredible self. But setbacks against Jon Moxley and Mark Davis shook his confidence.

After a month-long absence and training with the Death Riders, Ospreay seems to be back. He has picked up victories against Ace Austin and Katsuyori Shibata in AEW.

He is also now part of the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Champions in NJPW with the United Empire. He seems ready for the Owen Hart Cup.

His first opponent in the Owen Hart Cup is Samoa Joe. The former two-time AEW World Champion just returned from injury in late April. What will happen when two of the best in AEW fight for the Owen Hart Cup?

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
    Swerve Strickland vs. Bandido
    (Owen Hart Cup Men’s Quarterfinal)

Swerve Strickland lost a #1 Contender’s Match for the AEW World Championship on March 25th. After losing to Kenny Omega, he went on a month-long absence. But with the chance to win the Owen Hart Cup and another chance at the AEW World Championship, he is back.

Strickland will face ROH World Champion Bandido on Sunday night. Bandido has held the ROH World Championship for over a year now.

He is certainly looking forward to the next challenge of defeating a former AEW World Champion. Strickland certainly shouldn’t look past this dangerous challenge in New York City.

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
    Athena vs. Mina Shirakawa
    (Owen Hart Cup Women’s Quarterfinal)

Mina Shirakawa has been on a rampage since Toni Storm was attacked backstage by a mystery assailant in early March. She has been trying to figure out who attacked her friend. But a chance at the Owen Hart Cup is too much to ignore.

Mina Shirakawa will be facing Athena on Sunday night. Athena has held the ROH Women’s World Championship for over three and a half years.

Shirakawa has faced Athena before at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2025 in a losing effort. Can she finally beat the “Forever Champion”?

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly
    (AEW Continental Championship)

Jon Moxley has certainly been a fighting champion since winning the AEW Continental Championship at Worlds End 2025.

He has defended the title or had an Eliminator match for the Championship thirteen times since that show. Will the incredible pace finally catch up with them?

On last week’s AEW Dynamite, he faced off against Kyle O’Reilly in a Continental Title Eliminator match. It was a physical match to say the least.

After twenty minutes, it was a time limit draw. This won Kyle a match for the AEW Continental Championship at Double or Nothing.

The title match on Sunday will be a no-time-limit match. With his grueling schedule, can Moxley possibly survive yet again? It will be the biggest challenge to date in his five-month reign.

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
Thekla (c) vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Kris Statlander
    (AEW Women’s World Championship)

    Is Thekla’s reign in danger?

Thekla has held the AEW Women’s World Championship since winning it in a Strap Match on February 11 against then-champion Kris Statlander.

She has defended it five times since that night and she has defended it against Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, Mina Shirakawa, Alex Windsor and Jaime Hayter. Those were all singles matches. What about a Four-Way Match?

Thekla will be facing three former champions in Hikaru Shida, Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander. All of them have a real reason for revenge against the “Toxic Spider”. Can Thekla overcome these impossible odds yet again?

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita
    (AEW International Championship)

For months, the rivalry between Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita has been building. Even though both of them are part of the Don Callis Family, Okada has always seemed jealous of the younger Takeshita. I am sure Konosuke’s success in New Japan recently has only made it worse.

After months of arguments and betrayals in tag team matches, they will fight for the International Championship at Double or Nothing.

One of the biggest questions of the match is Don Callis’s involvement. He has tried to make peace between the two biggest stars of his faction. Will he play a role in the match on Sunday night? History tells us he will.

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) (c) (with Stokely) vs. Cage and Cope (Adam Copeland and Christian Cage)
    (AEW World Tag Team Championship)

Adam Copeland has had a long history with FTR in All Elite Wrestling. They formed the group Rated FTR, working together until AEW Dynasty 2025. FTR betrayed Cope after they lost the Trios Championship match. Cope vanished from AEW for over three months.

When he returned, he wanted to reform a team with Christian Cage. It certainly wasn’t easy but the former friends finally agreed to work together to fight a shared enemy, FTR. They defeated FTR at AEW All Out 2025 but a post-match attack on Cope’s family caused him to vanish yet again.

Cope and Cage returned at AEW Revolution 2026 with one goal: to take FTR’s Tag Team Gold. They sadly fell short at AEW Dynasty, but they got themselves one more chance at Double or Nothing.

It is an “I Quit” Match. However, if Cage & Cope lose their legendary team must break up forever. Can they finally defeat their long-time rivals, or will we see the end of an era?

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
Jericho, The Hurt Syndicate, and The Elite vs. The Demand, The Don Callis Family, and The Dogs
    (Stadium Stampede Match)

It is Double or Nothing, and you know what that means! It is time for a Stadium Stampede Match. The chaotic match occurs for the seventh time at this event.

When Chris Jericho returned to AEW after a long absence, it was Ricochet who set his sights on the returning legend. At AEW Dynasty, Jericho shockingly lost to Ricochet. But Jericho wasn’t ready to let the loss go.

As he was dealing with The Demand, he got some backup from The Hurt Syndicate and eventually The Elite. Ricochet got more help from members of The Don Callis Family and The Dogs. It is the first-ever seven-on-seven Stadium Stampede Match. What chaos will ensue in New York?

    AEW Double or Nothing 2026
    Darby Allin (c) vs. MJF
    (Title vs. Hair)
    (AEW World Championship)

The rivalry between Darby Allin and MJF dates back to Full Gear 2021 in AEW. Usually, MJF was able to pick up victories and hold bragging rights over Darby. That is, until Spring BreakThru 2026.

MJF apparently arrived at the arena that night not knowing he was facing Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship. With the hometown advantage,

Darby Allin shocked the world and defeated MJF in under three minutes. Darby was the AEW World Champion for the first time.

And Darby Allin has certainly been a fighting champion. He has defended the title against Tommaso Ciampa, Brody King, Kevin Knight, PAC, Konosuke Takeshita, Sammy Guevara, and Mike Bailey in just over a month. It has certainly been an impressive streak.

But MJF waited in the wings, complaining the entire time. He demanded his rematch. Darby Allin agreed only on one condition: if MJF loses, he has to shave his head bald.

For someone as vain as MJF, this was a difficult decision. Will Darby Allin overcome his rival yet again and take down MJF in New York? It will be fun to find out on Sunday night.
