Welcome to Raw in Advance for 01/29/24, where we take a look at the next episode of Raw emanating from Tampa, FL. This will be the first Monday Night Raw on The Road to WrestleMania. We are also coming off an impressive Royal Rumble, and there should be some fallout from that, as well.
Huge news also came out this week as Netflix has been announced as the new home of Monday Night Raw starting in January 2025. Yes, the math indicates there is a three-month gap between when the USA Network period ends and when the Netflix deal starts up.
USA Network has clarified that they will not be carrying Raw after the September 30th broadcast. WWE is expected to announce a temporary home for Raw in the coming weeks.
The $5 billion Netflix deal includes absorbing all non-US airings of Raw, Smackdown, and NXT. It will also absorb the WWE Network outside of the US as well.
Hot off Saturday’s Royal Rumble, which saw Raw’s “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and Smackdown’s Bayley win their respective Royal Rumble matches, both winners should be in Tampa to discuss their Rumble victory.
The question, though, is, will they officially announce which champion they want to face off against at WrestleMania?
Bayley has been saying that she wants to go for the only title not in Damage CTRL right now, the Women’s World Championship currently held by Raw’s Rhea Ripley.
Is Bayley going to show up in Tampa to confront Ripley? Will Bayley make her intentions for Ripley’s title official then, or does Damage CTRL have other plans?
Cody Rhodes made it apparent last night as the Royal Rumble was going off the air that he wants to finish the story with Roman Reigns and the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship by gesturing towards the skybox Reigns and Paul Heyman were sitting in to watch the Men’s Royal Rumble match.
Will Rhodes make his declaration tomorrow night in Tampa, or will he wait until Smackdown in Birmingham, AL?
The Royal Rumble also saw the returns of Naomi and Andrade. Has Adam Pearce signed either to a Raw contract, or did Smackdown’s Nick Aldis beat him to the punch?
Jade Cargill made her long-anticipated WWE debut at the Royal Rumble, and she singlehandedly eliminated Nia Jax from the Rumble match. Will Cargill be in Tampa to confront a likely upset Jax?
Bron Breakker also had a very impressive showing in the Royal Rumble. Could he get another look at Adam Pearce in Tampa, or will the GMs be watching his Dusty Rhodes Classic match on Tuesday?
Our scheduled card for tonight is DIY vs. The Judgment Day for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship, “Main Event” Jey Uso vs. “Big” Bronson Reed, and Kofi Kingston vs. GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship.
RAW In Advance for 01/29/24
WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship
The Judgment Day (c) vs. DIY
DIY picked up a win over Judgment Day a couple of weeks back to earn this tag team title opportunity. DIY have been picking up steadily where they left off in NXT.
Will their past success together as NXT tag team champions translate to tag team championships on the main roster? Judgment Day has been on a roll since recapturing the tag team championship.
After R-Truth inadvertently cost Damian Priest his match last week against Drew McIntyre, can another Truth miscue allow DIY to capture the tag team championship, or will Judgment Day all be on the same page and continue to roll through the tag team division?
RAW In Advance for 01/29/24
“Big” Bronson Reed vs. “Main Event” Jey Uso
After a very impressive showing in the Royal Rumble match lasting over 50 minutes, Jey Uso will face another test in Bronson Reed. Both have been racking up wins as of late in their quest for singles gold.
Reed issued the challenge last week, and Uso accepted it. Could the winner be the next in line for the Intercontinental Championship, or will it be just one more step closer to a title match that they desire?
RAW In Advance for 01/29/24
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
“The Ring General” GUNTHER (c) vs. Kofi Kingston
The war between Imperium and New Day has been going on for several weeks now, with each team trying to take the other out. It came to a head last week as both teams brawled all around the arena to a double countout before ending up going off some equipment cases through tables.
Later in the show, Kingston challenged GUNTHER to an Intercontinental Championship match this week. GUNTHER and Kingston faced off in the Royal Rumble match, with GUNTHER getting the upper hand and eliminating Kingston from the match.
Will Kingston’s luck change with the title on the line, or will GUNTHER’s record-setting title reign continue?
What else is going to happen on Raw? Did the Royal Rumble matches ignite some new rivalries? Tune in Monday at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT on USA Network or your normally scheduled time and channel.
