On Sunday, September 4th, the WWE’s NXT brand presents NXT Worlds Collide. An event that is set to unify the titles of both NXT programs. It was recently announced that NXT UK will be closing and returning in 2023 under the NXT Europe brand and name. Who will that include and who will that involve is yet to be determined.
While fans and media can speculate who that will be, what we are assured of is this event will combine all the prominent names of both brands together along with past NXT and NXT UK talent competing on this card. Here is the NXT Worlds Collide preview for 2022.
NXT North American Championship
Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Ricochet
When the A-Champion has no challengers, who is the one that officially steps up to the plate to face him? It would be a former NXT North American Champion, that’s who. When Ricochet came in and challenged Hayes for the title, fans immediately knew that they were going to be treated to something special.
While a match with a cold booking can sour some, it ideally could be something special like it is in this instance. This match will be everything that has made the NXT brand exciting to watch in the past. These two have the potential to put on a show-stealer of a match between them.

NXT Tag Team and NXT UK Tag Team Title Unification
Gallus vs. Pretty Deadly vs. Briggs and Jensen (c) vs. Diamond Mine (c)
While the men’s and women’s championship announcements were made prior to this evening, this match was a last-minute match announcement. That said, each of these teams have been feuding with one another for the past few weeks. So while the actual match announcement just came this past week, it wasn’t a stretch to see this title unification match was on the horizon.
What is interesting to note is that both of the former NXT UK champions coming into this match without titles around their waists. But none of the teams competing can be taken lightly as each have a championship pedigree about them. If any team on the face side can walk away with the titles, it may be Diamond Mine. But if the decision is to have a smarmy heel duo walk away unifying the titles, it would be Pretty Deadly.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
Kayden Carter and Katana Chance (c) vs. Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H
After their win against Nile and Paxley, this past week on NXT 2.0, Carter and Chance began to share that they had planned to party at NXT Worlds Collide. Before that claim was barely uttered out of their mouths, Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H both walked out to challenge Carter and Chance for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Doudrop (Piper Niven) and Nikki A.S.H (Nikki Cross) are alumni of the NXT UK and NXT brands, for those unaware. Both have a history in these brands, so to return and challenge for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship is as much a homage to where they came from as it is a legit challenge for the titles.
NXT Women’s and NXT UK Women’s Title Unification
Triple Threat
Mandy Rose (c) vs. Blair Davenport vs. Meiko Satomura (c)
As Mandy Rose has stormed through the entire NXT Women’s division, the biggest question was who would be her next threat? That initially became answered when NXT UK’s Blair Davenport confronted her in the center of the ring.
But that challenge was further pushed to another level when a veteran of nearly three decades and the current NXT UK Women’s Champion, Meiko Satomura, also came out to challenge her. A title unification, while understandable, the confusing part is the inclusion of Davenport.
If not to make the booking, unlike the men’s title unification can be why Davenport is included in this match. Also, Davenport has the least to lose of all involved in this match, making her the most significant threat.
As a bit of a traditionalist, myself and the rise of Iyo Sky and Asuka on the main roster leads me to be pulling for Meiko Satomura to unify the titles on Sunday.
NXT Championship and NXT UK Championship title Unification
Bron Breakker (c) vs. Tyler Bate (c)
On this past week’s edition of NXT, fans had witnessed past champions from both NXT, and NXT UK approaches the current champions and tells them both how they HAD to win. It was about keeping the lineage intact for the title. Gunther, Butch (Pete Dunne), Tomasso Ciampa, and Finn Balor all spoke to them, sharing how keeping their respective titles intact was crucial.
What is likely a built-in feud is that the losing champion moves to either Raw or Smackdown and engages in a rivalry with the champion that approached them. At this time, Tyler Bate is the more polished of the two men and, under a Triple H-led creative, may have the greater ceiling to be used at the current time in the event that he loses.
