Redemption Song | Coming Up NXT for 10/14/20 | Preview

An epic return, an unexpected partnership, an unnecessary attack… all in a night’s work for the black and gold brand. But that is only some of the stories created from last week’s huge edition of NXT. But with only 2 weeks away from the All Hallows’ Eve special of NXT Halloween Havoc, the WWE’s premiere Wednesday night show once again presents us with a show filled with superstars looking to redeem themselves on their way to greatness. This is Coming Up NXT preview for October 14th, Redemption Song!

Clash of Contenders

Terribly missing from NXT Takeover 31 are our champions, the police of fashion, Tyler Breeze, and Fandango. But while the champs we’re not on the show, they will still have a shot to compete against the winner of this week’s #1 Contender’s Match.

For Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish, this is a chance to get back in the W column after taking significant Ls individually and collectively as members of the Undisputed Era after Kyle O’Reilly’s loss to Finn Balor and Adam Cole’s unprecedented attacked by Ridge Holland at Takeover. This is a chance to once again get a shot back at the titles they’ve made famous over the past year.

It’s another shot for Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan to show why the Brit-Am Brawlers are still the premier team in NXT. Individually they have taken their own losses, more specifically their own one-person beating by Ridge Holland. This is a chance to be at the top of the card and have an overdue shot at the tag titles.

Undisputed Era vs. Lorcan and Burch may be one of the hardest hitting matches ever for a #1 Contender’s opportunity, but for one team, it’s a chance at gold. Will Strong and Fish once again reclaim their place at the top of the hierarchy? Or will Burch and Lorcan return to their own glory on their way to a title shot?

Stake A Claim

Last week’s episode ended in some much interesting solidarity between two former NXT Women’s Champions as Rhea Ripley, and Ember Moon took out ladies’ version of Diesel and Shawn Michaels in Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzales.

But it wasn’t just about who raised their hand in victory; it was about which woman belongs in the conversation as the next challenger to Io Shirai’s title. For Rhea Ripley, it’s a long time coming since her loss back at NXT Takeover: In Your House. For Ember Moon, it’s her first shot at the NXT Women’s Championship in almost 2 years. And what about Toni Storm, who may be a former NXT UK Women’s Champion and is looking to becoming the first woman to hold both titles. Who will stand out on this week’s edition of NXT?

A Continent Sized Opportunity

Last week, NXT North American Champion Damian Priest made it clear: whoever steps up will be knocked down, and he will continue his infamous reign. But with a litany of contenders all over the brand, any superstar on any given Wednesday can step up to the challenge for NXT’s youngest title.

Enter Dexter Lumis. Missing in action for almost 6 weeks, the creepy but effective superstar returned last week with the same cold stare and same high impact energy. But while he did not score the win over Austin Theory, thanks to a Cave In by Cameron Grimes, he clarifies he deserves his chance at redemption.

In the sure-fire main event, the NXT North American Championship match will take place between Lumis and the champion, Priest. Will the NXT North American Reign of Infamy continue on the NXT brand? Or will the calculating Lumis win his first title on the brand? And because lightning can strike twice, will Cameron Grimes interrupt this epic clash himself?

Also, on the show, we hope to hear about the arrival of Boa and his dealings with the spicy Xia Li, and update on Ridge Holland after his gruesome injury on last week’s show, Austin Theory’s next open challenge, the status of Velveteen Dream and his rivalry with KUSHIDA… and will these two ever get on the same page.. with this music?!?

This has been another edition of Coming Up NXT for 10/13/20. Tune in Wednesday for another edition of WWE NXT only on the USA Network!
