WrestleMania weekend has come to a close and the wrestling world is now in a state of upheaval. With so much uncertainty at the moment, there’s a lot left in the air regarding the continued cancellations of both mainstream and independent wrestling events. As the summer approaches, numerous promotions have already called off shows that were to happen in May. WWE and AEW are scrambling to find creative ways to continue holding events. Independent wrestling, however, has been devastated by the drastic changes that rapidly played out around the world. This includes Joey Janela comments about Spring Break.
Joey Janela Confirms Spring Break Postponed, Not Cancelled
It’s heartening to see the amount of support fans have given independent wrestling in recent weeks. It’s also inspiring to see that the majority of indie talent are staying hopeful about the future. AEW talent and independent wrestling standout Joey Janela has been maintaining positivity despite his wildly popular Spring Break event not taking place in Tampa this past weekend. Janela is adamant, however, that the show will indeed go on.
I’m not gonna sit here and tell you all that I’m sad that Spring Break isn’t happening tonight, that’s not my character. When the shit goes down we will once again do our due & push the independents & talents to the upper echelon and change the business once again! @GCWrestling_

Janela via Twitch: ‘For the Culture Will Still Happen’
AEW’s Bad Boy stayed busy on social media over WrestleMania weekend to promote his 3-night ‘QuarantineMania’ Twitch Livestream. On both Twitter and Twitch Janela confirmed Game Changer Wrestling’s series of weekend events would still take place. Once live events have been deemed safe to hold once again, the events will go on. This year would have been the fourth annual presentation of Joey Janela’s Spring Break and by many accounts, the event would have also been the largest Spring Break in both crowd and card size.
It will happen

Janela’s confirmation goes along with the official statement from GCW’s series of shows known as the Collective. These postponed events will have a reschedule date announced. This means that not only does the promotion intend to hold Spring Break but also other scheduled events such as For the Culture, Effy’s Big Gay Brunch, Bloodsport, and more. No confirmation has been made public on whether or not the previously scheduled non-wrestling Collective events will still take place.

Currently no timetable exists for rescheduling the postponed events. Tickets purchased by fans will be honored when the shows are rescheduled. Great news for fans who need a little hope in these hard times; GCW’s Collective events will indeed happen sometime in 2020!
