There’s plenty of action set for this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. In addition to an eight-man tag team match pitting The Elite against The Butcher, The Blade, and The Lucha Bros., Yuka Sakazaki makes her AEW return against Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. We will also see Cody take his lashes, as demanded by MJF, leading up to their showdown at Revolution. This, and more, will be discussed in the Diatribe!
Match 1: Jon Moxley vs. Ortiz (w/Santana)
Before the match begins, AEW Champion Chris Jericho, flanked by Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager, joins commentary. Following the opening bell, Moxley drops Ortiz after a series of strikes. Moxley grabs a steel chair, but keeps it outside of the ring. A distraction by Santana allows Ortiz to take advantage for a two-fall. On the outside, Ortiz whips Moxley into the barricade before launching him into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Ortiz attacks Moxley in the corner and rakes his back. Ortiz follows up with a chinlock, raking his forearm against Moxley’s face.
Moxley fights back, only for Ortiz to land a sit-out powerbomb for a two-count. Moxley catches Ortiz with a figure-four leglock. Ortiz fights back by poking Moxley’s bad eye, covered by the eyepatch he had been wearing for weeks. Moxley hits a tope suicida, crashing into Santana before tossing Ortiz over the barricade. The action returns to the ring, where Moxley plants Ortiz with a slam for a two-count. After exchanging strikes, Ortiz hits a tope suicida of his own on Moxley. Ortiz rolls Moxley back in the ring and lands a flying splash! 1… 2… Moxley kicks out! A fisherman suplex on Moxley is only good for a two-count as well.
Moxley catches an airborne Ortiz with a lariat. Ortiz inadvertently runs into an interfering Santana and turns around into a Paradigm Shift! 1… 2… 3!
Winner: Jon Moxley
After the match, Santana attacks Moxley from behind. Moxley plants Santana with a Paradigm Shift for his troubles! Moxley returns his gaze to Jericho and shows off the car keys Jericho “gave” him. Readying the key, Moxley uses it to attack the eye of Santana! Moxley escapes through the crowd as the rest of The Inner Circle rush to the ring, a medic checking on Santana soon after.

Trent and Kazarian start things off, jockeying for position. They soon exchange chops before Trent takes control with the double knees. Trent tags Taylor, Best Friends hitting a double elbow drop. Kazarian tags Sky, who exchanges holds with Taylor. Following a shoulder tackle, Taylor attempts a moonsault. Sky avoids the move and lands a high dropkick. Sky tags Kazarian before SCU takes down Taylor for a two-count. In the opposite corner, Trent tags himself in before dropping Sky off the apron. Kazarian fights back against Best Friends before all participants hit big moves.
The action spills to the outside, where Trent hits Sky with a spear. Kazarian lands a German suplex on the mat on Trent. Taylor follows up with a flipping neckbreaker. Orange Cassidy stands tall, but elects to “rest” on the mat with the participants. The show goes to commercial before returning to Kazarian hitting a backstabber on an airborne Trent. Sky tags in before SCU hits an assisted swinging DDT on Trent.
Kazarian whips Trent into the corner. Trent flips through but seems to favor his neck. Nonetheless, Trent continues to fight strongly, joining Trent in hitting tandem offense on Kazarian. Best Friends embrace in the ring. They go for Strong Zero, but Sky intervenes. Yoshi Tonic on Trent gives SCU the pinfall victory!
Winner: SCU
After the match, members of Dark Order storm the ring, attacking everyone in sight. Evil Uno marches down to the ring as Dark Order disposes of the aforementioned participants. Dark Order poses in the ring before Cassidy rolls into the ring to confront them. Uno presents Cassidy with a mask. In response, Cassidy places his hands in his pockets. Grayson blindsides Cassidy before Dark Order attacks. Christopher Daniels rushes to Cassidy’s aid, to which Dark Order responds by exiting the ring. Daniels demands they confront him, but instead, they leave up the ramp.
A video package plays of MJF, who explains the reasoning behind the lashings Cody will receive. From there, AEW Dynamite cuts to Taz, who believes MJF is taking matters too far. However, he believes Cody wants the match with MJF at Revolution badly.
Match 3: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Yuka Sakazaki
Baker targets the arm early on. Sakazaki counters with a hold of her own. Baker chokes Sakazaki in the corner and hits a running kick for a two-count. Sakazaki hits a headscissors followed by a top rope press. From there, Sakazaki hits the Magical Girl Splash on the outside! Back in the ring, Sakazaki hits a running basement clothesline for a two-count. They exchange forearms, Sakazaki getting the better of the exchange. Baker catches Sakazaki with a thrust kick followed by a swinging fisherman neckbreaker for a two-count. Baker transitions into Lockjaw, which Sakazaki escapes from before getting the surprise pinfall victory!
Winner: Yuka Sakazaki
Following the match, an irate Baker hits Sakazaki from behind with the ring bell! Baker goes for a second strike until the referee intervenes. Nonetheless, Baker traps Sakazaki, causing her to bite down on the bottom rope before stomping on her head. Sakazaki holds her mouth, which is not only bleeding but teeth start to fall out. Unrelenting, Baker cinches in Lockjaw on the bleeding Sakazaki.
Match 4: The Butcher and The Blade (w/The Bunny) and The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix) vs. The Elite (The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, and Kenny Omega)
The Blade and Page start the match with quick strikes. Page takes advantage and tags Omega, the AEW World Tag Team Champions hitting tandem offense. Omega tags Matt Jackson, who tags Nick Jackson, who tags Omega, multiple tags being exchanged. The Young Bucks double team their opponents before joining Omega to hit a triple dropkick on The Butcher. Stereo dives by The Elite follow as a nonplussed Page stands on the apron. The match descends to chaos, including a diving senton to the outside by Fenix, as AEW Dynamite goes to commercial.
The match returns to Nick fighting against multiple opponents at once. Nick starts to crawl to his corner and tags Matt while The Blade tags Fenix. Matt hits Fenix with multiple northern lights suplexes before catching Pentagon with another! Matt tags Omega before Fenix escapes the former’s grasp. Fenix hits a double top rope armdrag on Matt and Omega. Pentagon follows up with a backstabber on Omega. The Lucha Bros. execute tandem offense on Matt and Omega. Fenix tags The Butcher, who stomps away on Omega in the corner. The Butcher tags The Blade as tandem offense on Omega continues.

The Blade tags The Butcher, who is caught with a hurricanrana by Omega. From there, Omega tags Page, who hits a series of strikes on his opponents. Page dives onto Fenix before catching Pentagon with a belly-to-belly suplex. Page follows up with a diving moonsault onto his opponents on the outside! “Cowboy Shit” chants echo throughout the venue. Page hits a discus lariat on Pentagon for a two-count. Omega is tagged in before The Elite hit simultaneous running strikes on Pentagon. The opposition fights back, attacking Nick in the corner the same way. The Butcher and The Blade hit a Doomsday Device. Omega hits multiple snap dragon suplexes.
Nick attacks The Butcher in the corner before The Young Bucks hit an assisted sliced bread. Page abruptly tags himself in, but misses the Buckshot Lariat on The Butcher. After further chaos, Page plants The Blade with a Buckshot Lariat! With great strength, Page hits a fallaway slam on The Butcher. He nips up, but starts to favor his knee. He hesitates to make a tag, but this costs him, as Pentagon hits a sling blade. The Lucha Bros. hit a combination move on Page for the 1… 2… 3!
Winners: The Butcher, The Blade, and The Lucha Bros.
The Elite start to argue in the ring, Omega attempting to play peacemaker. AEW Dynamite returns from commercial with Tony Schiavone in the ring with Omega. Before Schiavone can start the interview, Pac appears on the tron. Pac says he wonders what will get Omega’s attention. He turns to Riho before telling him to accept a match. Omega says yes. Pac says he wasn’t going to place his hands on a woman. He’s not a beast… “She is.” Cue Nyla Rose, who powerbombs Riho onto a nearby table! Rose says that, next week, Riho’s ass is hers.
AEW Dynamite cuts to a video package featuring Darby Allin following The Inner Circle’s attack on him. He blowtorches a cardboard cutout of Jericho and Guevara before smirking to the camera.
Match 5: Kip Sabian (w/Penelope Ford) vs. Joey Janela
Janela starts by peppering Sabian with several hands before stomping on him in the corner. Sabian takes control by beating down Janela. From there, Sabian catches Janela with a leg lariat. Janela takes control with corner chops. Janela hits a back suplex for a two-count. Sabian hits a penalty kick to Janela’s back. This leads to a kicking battle, which Sabian cuts off by cinching in a chinlock. Janela fights back with forearms. Sabian misses a running kick and sends Janela headfirst into the nearby steel steps!

Ford taunts Janela and slams the back of his head against the steps. After commercial, AEW Dynamite returns to Sabian in control of Janela. Regaining control, Janela hits a tope suicida. Janela and Ford exchange words, giving Sabian the opportunity to hit a running apron kick. Janela catches an airborne Sabian with a German suplex on the mat. Back in the ring, Janela hits a big clothesline on Sabian. 1… 2… Sabian kicks out!
After another exchange, Janela is firmly in control of the match. They trade blows, Sabian getting the better of the exchange with a DDT. Ford climbs on the apron to give Sabian a kiss. Inadvertently, Janela knocks Ford off the apron. This gives Sabian the opportunity to get the roll-up pinfall victory!
Winner: Kip Sabian
Sabian helps Ford to the back. AEW Dynamite cuts to a backstage interview with The Inner Circle. Jericho scolds Moxley for taking out Santana’s eye, telling him he’ll pay. Santana takes the mic, challenging Moxley to a match next week. From there, the show plays a Dark Order promo in the style of a medical commercial.
AEW Dynamite cuts to further dissension in The Elite as Page is confronted by The Young Bucks. After an exchange of words, Page sips from a pitcher of beer. We cut to Dustin Rhodes, who tells MJF that Cody is tougher than he thinks. Rhodes is confident that Cody will get through his lashes.
MJF, alongside Wardlow, makes his entrance. Cody’s entrance follows as The American Nightmare seems to be taking his time. After the final AEW Dynamite commercial break, Cody removes his shirt. Mic in hand, MJF demands Cody’s belt, as his own is too nice to use. “Asshole” chants directed at MJF follow. Cody removes his belt and hands it to MJF. Cody turns his back, MJF taunting him. After Cody turns his back, MJF whips him once.

The Butcher, The Blade, The Bunny, Sabian, and others appear on the stage to watch as MJF whips Cody a second time. Cody stands off with MJF, knowing he can’t strike him until Revolution. Whip 3 follows as Cody drops to his knees. Arn Anderson storms down the ramp in an attempt to support Cody. MJF tells Anderson he can’t help Cody before whipping him for the fourth time. Cody drops to the mat before MJF yells at him to quit. Cody stands back up as MJF whips his back for a fifth time.
Cue Rhodes, who makes his way into the ring to confront MJF on his brother’s behalf. Rhodes demands he takes the rest. MJF denies before telling Rhodes to leave the ring. Rhodes comforts Cody, who MJF whips for a sixth and seventh time. The Young Bucks approach ringside to support Cody as well. Cody reenters the ring, where MJF whips him for the eighth time. MJF yells at Cody to stay down as The American Nightmare drops to his hands and knees. Cody flips off MJF, who goes to whip him again.
Instead, Wardlow stops MJF, taking the belt from him. Wardlow whips Cody across the back for a ninth time, causing him to drop. “Cody” chants ring throughout the venue. Brandi Rhodes walks to the ring, speaking confidently to her husband. Cody kisses her hand and rises to his feet again. MJF whips Cody for the tenth time, across the chest, clearly frustrated that his adversary didn’t quit. MJF cheap shots Cody between the legs and leaves through the crowd, Wardlow at his side. AEW Dynamite comes to a close as a weakened Cody is comforted by his friends and loved ones.
