The RAW after the Royal Rumble where Edge returned and “betrayed Randy Orton”. Or did he? Here’s my RAW Rebound!
The ring announcer introduces the winner of the 2020 Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre. The WWE Universe chanted, “You deserve it,” to Drew before he spoke. He immediately challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Title at Wrestlemania. Drew then issued an open challenge; Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows both accept. He agreed to fight them both and the match started. He made short of them both with Claymore Kicks and pinned them. Drew tossed The O.C. out of the ring after the match was over. He turned around to suffer an F-5 at the hands of his Wrestlemania opponent, Brock Lesnar.
Somebody tell Jerry Lawler Rey Mysterio isn’t from Texas! His opponent here was a surprise at the Royal Rumble, former United States Champion, MVP. He gets a special video package showing his past achievements in the WWE before the match gets underway.
Both guys get a good amount of time in this compelling match. MVP targeting Rey’s neck while Rey was using his speed to his advantage. MVP was in charge until a powerbomb attempt was reversed by Rey. With MVP’s head sitting nicely on the ropes, Rey hit his 619 for the win.
Aleister Black took on a local competitor named Kenneth Johnson and leveled him with a Black Mass kick. Not much to say as that really wasn’t a match.
Black took the microphone after the match and accepted the blame for his loss in the Royal Rumble last night. He said that he will no longer wait for the other superstars in the back to pick a fight with him; he will bring the fight to them.
The Monday Night Messiah, Seth Rollins, and Buddy Murphy, the new Raw Tag Team Champions came to the ring and called out Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens for their tag team title match. Kevin tells Seth that he still talks too much. He asks where the AOP are before the match starts. Seth shows a feed of The AOP in the back as proof that he doesn’t need them. No one believes him. Kevin said that since they knew where the AOP were, they knew where to send the Viking Raiders…who promptly attacked them backstage.
After the match came back from commercial, they showed up a replay of Samoa Joe performing a suicide dive outside the ring onto Buddy Murphy. He appeared woozy so the referee made him go to the back, similar to the NFL’s concussion protocol. The match turned into a 2-on-1 handicap match. Owens battled bravely and even hit a Stunner on Seth Rollins before being rolled up by Buddy Murphy as Rollins and Murphy retained their championships.
Becky Lynch was backstage and talked about her victory over Asuka at Royal Rumble. She said that she was upset with herself for even doubting how good she was. Becky was asked about Charlotte challenging her for the Raw Women’s title. She said that it wouldn’t be the first time, but it would definitely be the last. She turned around to reveal a goat graphic on the back of her jacket.
United States Champion Andrade, accompanied by Zelina Vega defended his title in a Royal Rumble Kickoff rematch against Humberto Carrillo. As has been the case with all Andrade’s matches, Zelina Vega got involved, only this time, she caused a disqualification after Carrillo had Andrade covered. Once the match was over, Carrillo snapped. He threw Andrade outside the ring and got some payback by exposing the concrete and hitting a Hammerlock DDT onto Andrade.
The 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair came out to ringside. She said she didn’t know which champion she was going to face at Wrestlemania. She was interrupted by the Kabuki Warriors. Asuka claimed that if she had entered the Rumble last night, she would have won. She and Kairi Sane then attacked The Queen.
We returned from commercial and a one-on-one match between Charlotte Flair and Asuka was underway. Charlotte focused most of her attack on the leg of The Empress of Tomorrow, while Kairi Sane watched at ringside. The match ended in a disqualification. Kairi Sane hit an Insane Elbow on Flair while she had Asuka locked in the Figure Eight.
The Street Profits were seen backstage. They talked about the show thus far. They also hyped Edge’s return as Kelly Kelly walked upon them. The 24/7 Championship, held by Mojo Rawley is up next. Riddick Moss from NXT accompanied Rawley to the ring. Mojo titled Moss his “offensive lineman”. No Way Jose came out and no sooner than the conga line could finish, he was cut down and Mojo retained.
R-Truth, dressed as a hamburger, snuck in and rolled up Mojo to take the 24/7 Championship back. As Truth tried to leave the ring, he was blocked by Riddick Moss. When he turned around, Mojo nailed him and rolled him up to take back the 24/7 Championship.
Liv Morgan and Lana were up next. Both women eliminated themselves tussling in the Women’s Royal Rumble. It was announced that Lashley and Rusev were barred from ringside. Both women were quite quick to jaw jack with one another rather than concentrate on the match in hand. This quick and often hard-fought contest ended with Liv Morgan hitting a springboard Flatliner on Lana for the 1-2-3.
Erik Rowan made his way to the ring with his cage. He brutalized a local competitor called Branden Vice for about three minutes before winning the match with the Iron Claw Slam.
Edge made his return to Monday Night Raw to another huge ovation! He explained the long trek back. Undergoing three neck surgeries in order to come back and end his career on his own terms. He said he didn’t know where it would all end, but he wanted everyone to join him on the ride. Randy Orton walked out to interrupt the feel-good moment and hugged him.
Orton said that Edge was the one who always helped him out back in his wild and young days on the road. He asked what Edge thought about a Rated RKO reunion. The crowd ate it up and cheered! Edge was looking towards the crowd for a reaction when The Viper struck with an RKO out of nowhere! He attacked Edge with a chair and laid him out. Then he positioned Edge’s head in the opening of the chair and teased jumping off the turnbuckle. He didn’t do it though. What he did was grab another chair and perform a one-man Conchairto onto the prone Rated R Superstar to finish the show.
