On Saturday, January 18th, Black Label Pro presents Nobody Puts BLP In A Corner. With a number of contests slated to take place a few appear to be ones to keep our eyes out on. For instance, Hammerstone will challenge AJ Gray for the BLP Midwest Championship and Filthy Tom Lawlor will battle Erick Stevens for the BLP Championship. It should also be noted that even matches that aren’t for titles could likely have championship implications. With notable veterans such as Alex Shelley and Rocky Romero a part of the show, it is sure to be one for the ages.
The Greatest Rumble
With the Royal Rumble around the corner, it seemed quite fitting for the greatest Rumble to take suit. While there are a number of names that are set to be a part of the event one appears to be at the forefront. One-half of the IMPACT Wrestling tag team champions, The North Ethan Page may very well be leading himself out of the Greatest Rumble as the winner. As a third of the BLP Tag-team Champions alongside Hornswoggle and Danhausen, Ethan Page could be the one to beat. Gary Jay has in fact slated how he is not only looking forward to winning but pointing to the WrestleMania sign afterward. Will Jay be Page’s threat at Nobody Puts BLP In A Corner?
Jason Cade vs Johnathan Wolfe
With his recent return to the ring, Jason Cade is coming in on a championship high. Both he and tag team partner Rich Swann recently captured the Wrestling Revolver Tag Team Championships. Cade will be competing in a singles match here against Johnathan Wolfe. Wolfe continues to grow with 2020 likely to be a year in which he turns heads. Cade is clearly the more seasoned of the two in this matchup. A win here by either competitor is likely to set up potential challenges for the BLP singles championship. Will Wolfe catch the veteran off guard leading to a victory or will Cade be able to overcome the challenge his upcoming opponent at Nobody Puts BLP In A Corner?
Violence is Forever vs Corn Beef
In a battle amongst dangerous tag teams, the duo of Corn Beef (1 Called Manders and ‘Big Beef’ Gnarls Garvin) square off against Violence is Forever consisting of Kevin Ku and Dominic Garrini). For those unaware, Manders has been a regular as part of the Wrestling Revolver promotion. He is a perennial favorite in each of their scramble matches. The pairing of him and Garvin haven’t had the time together that say Garrini and Ku have had. With each tag matchup that passes, Garrini and Ku continue to build momentum. One would think that this matchup itself puts both teams in a position to contend for the BLP Tag Team Championships. Often times the biggest challenges come from those that you either aren’t prepared for or take likely. Let’s hope that neither of these things happens to take place as Violence is Forever surely doesn’t want a setback.
Alex Shelley vs Isaias Velazquez
This is going to be a fantastic matchup. Shelley is coming off a recent appearance in NXT. He teamed up with former tag team partner KUSHIDA as the Time Splitters as part of the Dusty Rhodes Classic. Despite the first-round loss, it was great to once again to see the tandem of KUSHIDA and Shelley together. This time around Shelley steps into the ring with ‘The Definition’ himself. Velazquez is a fourteen-year pro and is no stranger to Black Label Pro. It’s Velazquez’ first match back in BLP since this past November’s BLP Slamilton. Despite walking out of that match with a loss to Narita, he refuses to relent walking into this matchup. Will Velazquez come in with a chip on his shoulder? Or will Shelley walk into this match determined to walk out the victor?
Rocky Romero vs Ophidian
A man that is as ingrained in New Japan Pro Wrestling as Rocky Romero comes to Black Label Pro. During this weekend, Romero will be hosting a seminar and it could prove to be a lesson in this match as well. This match appears to be a battle of promotions as it is anything else. Ophidian has a long-standing history in CHIKARA and will look to bring all the mystery and intrigue that comes with his character at Nobody Puts BLP In A Corner. The high-flying and technical style of the Serpent from the Nile looks to best the leader of Roppongi 3K. This time around he will be going solo looking to chalk another one up in the win column for Romero. How will this impact BLP? Only time will tell.
Independent Wrestling Championship
Kylie Rae vs Warhorse (c)
This is an interesting matchup of sorts. On one side we have Warhorse, a talent that is increasing in popularity. The other side has to fan-favorite Kylie Rae. Both have earned their share of the popularity of the past year. Whether it was due to the matches or presence on social media. Both Rae and Warhorse have garnered attention for themselves. With Warhorse’s IWTV Championship on the line, the question will be whether or not Rae will be able to end his massive streak as a champion for nearly a year.
BLP Midwest Championship
AJ Gray (c) vs Hammerstone
A second title being defending on this evening features current BLP Midwest Champion, AJ Gray as he defends his title against the new PCW ULTRA Heavyweight Champion, Hammerstone. With the target on his back, Gray brings with him around the same length of time in the ring as Hammerstone. ‘Rich Homie Juice’ himself, Gray has held the BLP Midwest Championship nearly six months. It isn’t by accident as Tennessee native is coming into this match with the intent on not only walking out as the champion but soundly defeating Hammerstone in the process. Will Hammerstone be able to ride the wave of his recent championship win into this matchup with Gray? The answer to that question will be sounding met this coming Saturday.
BLP Championship
Erick Stevens (c) vs. ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor
These two monsters of men are slated to put it all on the line as they challenge for the BLP Championship. As many readers may already be aware, ‘Filthy’ Tom is an integral part of MLW and comes to Black Label Pro to dethrone the current champion Erick Stevens. In Stevens, fans are watching a seventeen-year veteran that has massive power and striking ability. His current reign as the BLP Heavyweight Champion is a little over two months old now. He captured the title after defeating Canadian Kobe Durst at BLP Slamilton. This is likely among the featured matches fans will anticipating this evening.
