AEW’s Full Gear 2022 event saw three new champions crowned in the promotion. The MJF era has officially begun, as he knocked off Jon Moxley to win his first AEW World Championship. The assist goes to William Regal, who turned his back on Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club, sliding brass knuckles to MJF for the win.

Elsewhere on the card, Jamie Hayter overcame Toni Storm to become the new AEW Interim Women’s World Champion. After throwing Storm into an exposed turnbuckle, the padding removed by Dr. Britt Baker, Hayter hit the ripcord lariat for the pinfall victory.

Finally, Samoa Joe overcame Powerhouse Hobbs and Wardlow to claim the latter’s TNT Championship. After Wardlow began the Powerbomb Symphony, planting Hobbs twice, Joe cracked Wardlow from behind with the championship belt and choked out Hobbs. Joe is now a double champion, holding both the AEW TNT Championship and ROH World Television Championship.

Death Triangle, The Acclaimed, Chris Jericho, and Jade Cargill all successfully defended their respective titles.

One of Full Gear’s most anticipated matches saw The Elite return to challenge Death Triangle for their AEW Trios Championships, which Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were forced to vacate after the All Out media scrum incident also involving CM Punk.

The match ended in controversial fashion, with PAC coaxing Rey Fenix into using a hammer to blast Omega in the head as he attempted a One-Winged Angel to score the pinfall. Omega, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson will now face PAC, Fenix, and Penta El Zero Miedo in a best-of-seven series for the AEW Trios Championships, continuing on this week’s edition of Dynamite.

After weeks of tension between Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland, Swerve In Our Glory seems to have finally imploded during their AEW World Tag Team Championship match with The Acclaimed at Full Gear.

After Strickland again attempted to coax Lee into using pliers to cheat to win, Lee threw the weapon out of the ring, and Strickland slapped him across the face. Lee then walked out on his partner, allowing Max Caster and Anthony Bowens to pick up the win and retain their championships. We’ll undoubtedly find out what Strickland has to say on Dynamite, as a clash between the two now seems inevitable.
