5 Biggest AEW Stories of the Week for 11/12/22

  1. Danielson Stands Tall

This week’s edition of Dynamite was headlined by Bryan Danielson and Sammy Guevara going to war in a 2/3 Falls Match. The Blackpool Combat Club and Jericho Appreciation Society’s blood feud only continued to heat up, heading into Full Gear’s Four Way ROH Title Match, which will see Chris Jericho defend against Danielson, Guevara, and Claudio Castagnoli.

Guevara sacrificed the first fall in exchange to do some extra damage, throwing a chair at Danielson’s face and brutalizing his eye with a microphone. Not letting up, he’d hit Danielson with a GTH to even the score at one a piece.

With momentum swinging back and forth in the extremely physical matchup, Danielson would eventually take the third fall and victory by submission with the LaBell Lock. The American Dragon has some momentum on his side heading into Full Gear, but also a pretty messed up eye.

  1. Saraya Is Cleared

Another highlight of this week’s edition saw Saraya, FKA Paige in WWE, deliver an emotional promo and confirm she is officially cleared to return to in-ring competition. Saraya will wrestle her first match in nearly five years against Dr. Britt Baker at Full Gear.

The former WWE Divas Champion suffered what was considered to be a career-ending neck injury when she took a kick to the head at a live event in Dec. 2017. She announced her retirement the following April. Much like Bryan Danielson and Edge, who many believed would never wrestle again following similar “career-ending” injuries, Saraya is back to prove that AEW is “Her House’ – although she may have to take that one up with Swerve Strickland.

  1. WarJoe No More

Samoa Joe Turns Heel On AEW Dynamite
[Via AEW]
Last week, we theorized ROH Television Champion Samoa Joe possibly turning his back on “WarJoe” partner and AEW TNT Champion Wardlow, joining the TNT Title hunt alongside Powerhouse Hobbs. Tensions came to a blow on Dynamite, after Wardlow successfully defended his championship over Ari Daivari.

When Hobbs again emerged on the entrance ramp, Wardlow proclaimed that not only will the former Team Taz member fail to capture his title… he plans on winning every title in the company. This did not sit well with Joe, who blasted Wardlow from behind with his ROH World Television Title belt and locked him in the Coquina Clutch. Will we see a three-way TNT Championship Match at Full Gear?

This week’s AEW Rampage saw both Brian Cage and Bandido advance in the Full Gear AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament, overcoming Dante Martin and RUSH, respectively. Following Rampage, Tony Khan took to Twitter to officially confirm Bandido’s signing with the company.

Bandido will move on to the second round of the tournament to face “All Ego” Ethan Page, who bested Eddie Kingston on Dynamite. The winner will head to Full Gear to face the winner of Brian Cage vs. the winner of the final first-round match, Ricky Starks vs. Lance Archer.
