WWE NXT Preview for 5/4/21 (NXT Women’s Tag Team Title Match)

The return of the WWE NXT brand once again, we preview an episode, this time for the 5/4/21 episode. Several moving parts are playing a role this week. Fans will witness a women’s tag team championship match, a grudge match that the two pugilists involved are hoping to end, & a tag team matchup likely with tag team championship opportunity implications.

Of all those involved in this week’s episode, Finn Balor’s return is sure to gain the greatest amount of traction. His appearance comes after losing the NXT Championship. Questions are likely to be raised as to who will want to step up to him and challenge him. If the NXT Championship isn’t next, could someone want to cement themselves in Balor’s ‘spot’. All this and more in the WWE NXT Preview for 5/4/21.

Finn Balor Returns!

His silence is deafening, thus making a return to NXT all the more intriguing. At NXT TakeOver Stand & Deliver, he came at Karrion Kross with everything but the kitchen sink. Despite his best efforts, the Prince lost his NXT Championship. What does this mean now for Finn Balor? His return to NXT was met with a swift and necessary rise to the top of the brand. What will he say next? It is no accident his role in the standings is coupled with that of Adam Cole’s.

Could these two be once again on a collision course to face one another, or will Balor once again seek to regain his lost championship against Kross? There are several directions in which they can go with his return. Fans will need to stay tuned this coming Tuesday to find out the direction they are headed with the Prince’s return.

WWE NXT Preview for 5/4/21
Leon Ruff vs. Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott

If any rivalry has picked up steam over the past few weeks, it has been this one. Ruff is often counted out and never thought of as being all that much. From his NXT North American Championship win to his success leading into the NXT North American Championship Gauntlet Challenger Match, Ruff has shown he has the stuff! Scott thought he could rid himself of Ruff after defeating him. But Leon proved that you can’t keep a good man down. He, in fact, has said this is over when he says it’s over!

Well, now all the talking is over. These two will finally get a chance to go at one another. The worst thing Scott could do is take Leon lightly. In fact, if Scott does, he is likely to face the same fate the likes of Johnny Gargano has faced in the past. What will happen when Scott finally steps across the ring from Ruff on Tuesday? Fans are assured all hell will break loose between them!

Timothy Thatcher & Tommasso Ciampa vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake)

If any four words could best describe this match, it would be ‘HITS LIKE A BRICK.’ These four men are no strangers to one another as they crossed paths in the semi-finals of the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament. Thatcher and Ciampa didn’t come out victorious on this occasion, and it likely is eating away at them. This match will involve stiff strikes, brutal kicks, and submission attempts that would make Stu Hart proud.

Fans can anticipate the stretching of any or all of the competitors involved taking place. Also, the outcome of this match is also likely to still have some connection to Imperium and a potential matchup against them.

Street Fight
NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon vs. The Way (Candice LaRae & Indi Hartwell)

The match is being billed, asking if the third time is the charm for The Way. However, this is actually their second time facing one another for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. At NXT TakeOver Stand & Deliver, Moon and Blackheart retained their titles against LaRae and Hartwell. The biggest challenge here is that anything goes as it pertains to the match. This could be a factor considering the Robert Stone Brand’s Aliyah and Jessie Kamea were awarded a win previously by count-out. Could they come out and repay The Way for their help the previously helping them to secure a win?

If other teams don’t get involved, it is not to say that Gargano and Theory could get involved, which could likely implicate the likes of Dexter Lumis as he and Indi Hartwell have been star-crossed lovers. So if Gargano is involved, Bronson Reed could once again get involved.

What To Expect

  • Will Legado del Fantasma, MSK, and KUSHIDA once again cross paths?
  • Is there dissension within Imperium as it pertains to Alexander Wolf’s past with Killian Dain?
  • Will Mercedes Martinez seek retribution for what happened to her at the hands of Raquel Gonzalez?
