WWE NXT 2.0 for 8/9/22 (One Final Accord)

The upcoming episode of WWE NXT 2.0 for 8/9/22 features three matches for the show and a face-to-face meeting. Of the three matches advertised, one has boxing implications tied to it that aren’t typical in a boxing ring. While this likely won’t remind fans of the Mr. T and ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper battle from WrestleMania 2, it will bring talented competitors on the NXT 2.0 roster to the forefront of this match-up.

However, of all the matches promoted, it is, in fact, the upcoming altercation between Santos Escobar and Tony D’Angelo that is likely to signal the beginning of the end between the two of them. What else will happen as fans prepare for the upcoming NXT Heatwave event? Here is our NXT 2.0 for 8/9/22 preview.

Nikita Lyons vs. Kiana James

Over the past few weeks, we have seen Kiana James attempt to dissect Nikita Lyons and who she is mathematically. For those unaware, James carries herself as someone with all the faculties that suggest she will get the better of Lyons. However, Lyons has grown to gain the attention of those both online and in NXT 2.0.

To suggest someone passing judgment on her alone is enough to do her in is odd (to put it mildly). What we likely can anticipate is that Lyons will not only walk away victorious against James but to do so handily.

Rounds Match
Wes Lee vs. Trick Williams

This match has come about due to the result of Lee’s last match against Grayson Waller. After being knocked out at the hands of Williams unsuspectingly, Lee is there to do more than simply come into this battle blindly. It will consist of six, three-minute rounds between the two.

To have a boxing match in on a wrestling program isn’t likely to be considered something to be taken seriously. But it could continue to elevate Lee in his pursuit of the NXT North American Championship. Williams is often the one that will take a bullet for NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, and this match could continue to prove that. Will Williams put up, or will Wes Lee force him to shut up?

One-Final Accord
Tony D’Angelo and Santos Escobar

After his surprising return this past week, Santos Escobar is determined now more than ever to prove the dominance of Legado del Fantasma. His brass knuckles right hand to the head of Tony D’Angelo not only led to the D’Angelo family losing out on the NXT Tag Team Championships but once again reunited the rest of Legado with Escobar.

An irate D’Angelo received a phone call from Escobar later on in last week’s program, issuing them ending things once and for all. Santos and Tony both realize that they can’t co-exist, and this face-to-face confrontation will be their opportunity to end things once and for all. Will this become a physical confrontation? Check out this week’s episode to find out if that happens.

Zoey Stark vs. Cora Jade

Last week, Mandy Rose made a proposal to Cora Jade to get rid of Zoey Stark and slim the field of competitors for the NXT Women’s Championship. While Jade was already skeptical of Rose and her intentions, it does make sense. It does, provided Rose keeps her word and provides Jade an NXT Women’s Championship match in the future.

After Stark’s surprising return a couple of weeks ago, the question is, will her knee hold in preparation for her NXT Women’s title match? So while Starks has the obstacle of Jade ahead of her before facing Mandy Rose, she isn’t the only person in this match that needs to be aware of those looking to exact their revenge. Roxanne Perez still has a score to settle with Cora Jade. Could she be a factor in this match and lead to Cora Jade to be defeated?

What To Expect

  • Bron Breakker to address JD McDonough for one final time before Heatwave
  • Carmelo Hayes addresses potential threats for the NXT North American Championship
  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter to address future challengers for their newly won tag team titles.
