Raw Rebound 2/24/20 (Orton vs Owens)

Could Aleister Black have a new feud? is Drew McIntyre ready for WrestleMania? Could we have a contract signing that doesn’t devolve into a brawl? And will Randy Orton snap on Kevin Owens? All that and more answered in this week’s Raw Rebound!

Monday Night Raw opens with “The Viper” Randy Orton in the middle of the ring. He endured the boos and jeers from the audience before he spoke. Randy began by saying that lately he’s been emotionally unbalanced for quite a while now. He told the story of how fifteen years ago, he was 24 years old and Edge punched him in the face on an episode of Raw. Orton went on to say that Adam would later become his best friend and brother. Randy said that he doesn’t expect the WWE Universe to understand why he did what he did. But he is truly sorry from the bottom of his heart.

Randy is interrupted by Kevin Owens, who will lay aside his problems with “The Monday Night Moron” Seth Rollins for just a moment. He has an issue with Randy. Kevin said that as a fan, he always loved Edge and he was sad when the Rated R Superstar had to retire. It meant that he’d never be able to share the ring with him. He also said that watching Edge get ready to make his return to the ring at Royal Rumble made him feel like a fan again, not like an actual superstar in the business. Kevin challenged the “Apex Predator” to a match later tonight.

Angel Garza with Zelina Vega faced off against his cousin, Humberto Carillo. The cousins really took it to each other with a series of moves and countermoves that suggested that they know each other a little deeper than what we’ve been told. During one sequence, they both stood on the outside apron and exchanged a series of superkicks. Zelina Vega got involved as she usually does. But this time it didn’t result in a victory. At least not right away. After Humberto and Angel each kicked out of a series of pin attempts at two, Garza would get the last roll up and the three count to earn the victory.

In another tune-up for his match against WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, Ricochet took on The OC’s big man, Luke Gallows. Gallows used his size and power to his advantage until Ricochet was able to create some space. A Recoil and Shooting Star Press would put Gallows away, securing Ricochet a little momentum heading into Super Showdown.

The OC was backstage with AJ Styles telling them they needed to remind the WWE Universe of who they really are. Aleister Black just happened to be walking by and they decided to make an example of him. They ambushed Aleister, who was on his way to ringside for a match. He stumbled to his feet and made it out to ringside eventually.

He would take on Rowan again in a rematch from last week. Aleister Black was a step behind, showing the effects of the beatdown he just suffered. Rowan had Black outside and charged him, but Aleister ducked. Rowan ended up knocking over his cage thing that nobody knows what’s in it. He scrambled to sit the cage back on the ring step. Rowan was able to beat the ten count, but couldn’t avoid Aleister’s Black Mass kick. Two of them put Rowan away. On his way up the ramp, Aleister Black told AJ Styles, “Next week, we FIGHT!”

The Royal Rumble 2020 winner, Drew McIntyre had an interview with Charly Caruso. He talked about not caring exactly who he would face at Wrestlemania. He was just happy to be in the main event. Drew then took a trip down memory lane. He talked about his early beginnings in WWE. Being dubbed “The Chosen One” to floundering about with no direction. He took responsibility for everything that happened in his career. Even his eventual firing, which he said he deserved. The Scottish Psychopath sounded more than ready for Wrestlemania.

R-Truth hosted an episode of “Truth TV” with Lana and Bobby Lashley as guests. Truth didn’t want to fight, he wanted to talk about “Sonic The Hedgehog.” Lana screamed at a referee to ring the bell and start the match. It was a pretty short affair, with Lashley picking up the victory with a devastating spear.

Jerry “The King” Lawler hosted a contract signing featuring the participants in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, except Shayna Baszler. Asuka cut Lawler off and went on a tangent. The Queen of Spades showed up eventually but as all contract signings go, everything broke down. Nattie, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Ruby Riott and Asuka all brawled with each other. Leaving only Shayna was left standing in the ring. Enter “The Man.”  The WWE Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch. She went to ringside and brawled with Shayna until they were separated by the backstage officials.

D’Angelo Dawkins of the Street Profits took on Murphy, one half of the Raw Tag Team Champions. Seth Rollins accompanied him to the ring. The match was cut way short when The Monday Night Messiah broke up a Dawkins pin attempt, causing the disqualification. Montez Ford came to his partner’s aid then challenged Rollins to start their one-on-one contest immediately.

Seth Rollins and Montez Ford got off to a hot start. They battled outside, where Seth connected with a running powerbomb into the barricade wall. Ford would recover and hit Seth with a sunset powerbomb from the top rope. From there, he went for his signature Frog Splash. But Rollins rolled out of the way just in time. The Monday Night Messiah hit Ford with a Curb Stomp to pick up the win.

The main event saw Randy Orton against Kevin Owens. Shortly after the match started, Seth Rollins, Murphy and the AOP made their way to ringside. Before they could insert themselves into the match, the Street Profits and the Viking Raiders rushed the ring area and brawled Seth’s disciples away from ringside. Back inside the ring, Kevin Owens hit Randy Orton with a Senton splash. Seth Rollins got involved by grabbing KO’s leg as he attempted to springboard back inside the ring. The distraction allowed The Viper to hit his signature hanging DDT. He rolled over to make the cover and a fast count by the referee stunned everyone, making Randy Orton the winner in a surprising turn of events.

Seth Rollins grabbed some chairs and tossed them inside the ring, imploring Randy to attack Kevin the same way he attacked Edge and Matt Hardy. Orton thought about it, but eventually declined and walked up the ramp. That gave Owens time to recover, chase away Seth and turn his attention to the rogue referee. He ripped open the ref’s shirt to reveal a Monday Night Messiah t-shirt underneath. Incensed, he stunned the referee and then put him through a table with a powerbomb while Seth looked on from the top of the ramp.

What's up folks, I'm Hab and I've been a wrestling fan for more than thirty years. I grew up on the NWA and Crockett Promotions in the Triad City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. My favorite wrestler of all time is Bret Hart. At the moment, I'm a Cesaro hipster and The World's Biggest Luke Harper fan. I was at the Smackdown! taping when Brock Lesnar threw Zach Gowen down a flight of steps in the New Orleans Arena and laughed about it for the next two days. I have a few loves in my life, my beautiful daughter, my family, professional wrestling and hip-hop are just some of them.
