NXT Weekly for 10/25/22
Katana Chance and Kayden Carter vs. Zoey Stark and Nikkita Lyons
(NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship)

We start right off Tag Team Title Tuesday in the ring with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship match. The match was action-packed and really good. It went back and forth between the two teams. There was a false finish when Stark pinned the non-legal competitor to win the tag titles, but the match was restarted. This allowed the champs to regain momentum and retained their titles.

The match was really good, and I like both teams here. I could have passed on the false title change spot, though. It did not hurt the overall quality of the match.

Winners: Katana Chance and Kayden Carter (Still NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions)

The new NXT North American Champion, Wes Lee, is out next to cut a promo to celebrate his title win. Lee is interrupted by Grayson Waller, who insists that he did not lose to Apollo Crews in the casket match at Halloween Havoc. Raw’s R-Truth joins the festivities dressed up as The Joker. Truth welcomes everyone to Halloween Havoc. Waller tells Truth that Halloween Havoc has passed and Truth thinks Waller is British instead of Australian. Waller has a little scuffle and Truth says he’ll see him (Waller) next week.

It would have been nice to see a little more focus on Lee and his title win, but I’m sure that will come in future weeks. A Waller/Lee feud could be good.

A video package shows T-Bar’s mask burning and the re-emergence of Dominik Dijakovic. With Triple H back, they won’t screw him up.

Apollo Crews is backstage confirming that the feud with Waller is over, and he’s gunning for the NXT Title. That’ll be a good feud. Not sure if Crews takes the title off Breakker though.

Shotzi vs. Lash Legend

Quincey Elliott introduced Shotzi. Fortunately for all of us, the match was kept short. Booker T pointed out that Legend has potential, but she has yet to tap it. The match was okay for a TV match with Shotzi picking up the win. It might not hurt Legend to go off TV for a little bit and work with Booker T to try to tap that potential he sees in her.

Winner: Shotzi

The Creeds are out next for Brutus’s five minutes in the ring with Damon Kemp. Kemp tells The Creeds that he is not medically cleared for tonight but will still fight once he is. Veer Mahaan and Sanga jump The Creeds for no real reason and laid them out.

It’ll be interesting to see what the explanation is for Sanga and Mahaan attacking the Creeds. Are they working for Kemp or just ready to feud with someone?

Pretty Deadly vs. Malik Blade and Edris Enofe
(NXT Tag Team Championship)

The other half of Tag Team Title Tuesday is up. This match was really good and helped establish Blade and Enofe as legitimate title contenders for a future title run. The match was action packed with lots of extremely close nearfalls by both teams. It seriously looked like it could have gone either way. In the end, Pretty Deadly picked up the win to retain their tag team championships.

This match really sold me on Blade and Enofe. They did a really good job in the match and kept everything exciting. I can see them as future tag team champions in NXT and on the main roster.

Winners: Pretty Deadly (Still NXT Tag Team Champions)

After the match, Odyssey Jones pulled up in a truck with some girls, and they invited Blade and Enofe to party with them. They joined the group, and Jones drove off. Mandy Rose announced that we will be celebrating her one-year title reign next week. Oh, joy.

Schism comes out for a promo to announce their newest member. Gacy, Fowler, and Reid all cut promos before the newest recruit reveals themselves to be Ava Raine. Yes, that Ava Raine. Thee Ava Raine that is The Rock’s daughter. She’s a fresh addition to Gacy’s group and a logical one.

He always talks about diversity and inclusion, so adding a female talent makes sense. I’m interested to see if she is ready to go in the ring and how she figures into Schism matches.

Sol Ruca vs. Indi Hartwell

Ruca cut a promo backstage before the match. Hartwell finished Ruca off in a short time which could be a good thing or a bad thing. It wasn’t really a total domination squash match, so I’m not sure what the goal was here. After the match, Electra Lopez laid out both ladies, announcing she is back in NXT without Legado del Fantasma.

Winner: Indi Hartwell

Duke Hudson tried to impress Andre Chase in the Chase U. segment before we were treated to a weird voicemail to the WWE Performance Center announcing the impending arrival of a new group.

Ilja Dragunov vs. JD McDonagh

It’s the main event time, and this was a really good match. It was really physical, which was played into the finish. Dragunov has been impressive since his return to NXT. McDonagh has shown his toughness in the ring. I really like the psychology in the match, and these two put on quite a performance.

They’ve faced off in NXT UK, and it showed that they work well together. In the end, McDonagh capitalized on Dragunov’s rib injury to make him pass out to the submission hold. The referee stopped match, and Dragunov never tapped out. Both men looked really tough and a threat to the NXT Championship.

Winner: JD McDonagh

The fallout from Halloween Havoc showed a couple of feuds ended while others continue. It was a really good show this week, and we saw our first promo for NXT Deadline, the last WWE PLE of 2022.
