NXT 2.0 for 4/12/22 (NXT Women’s Championship)

On the upcoming NXT 2.0 for 4/12/22, as few as two matches are announced for the show! While there were three previously announced, that was reduced to two with questions remaining about the third match. As we go into this week’s episode questions, remain over what will be the plan for the NXT Tag Team Championships moving forward. Several teams will likely stake claim to the title.

However, with several teams staking claim, how many are legitimate threats for the titles? The other two matches announced include one for the NXT North American Championship and the other for the NXT Women’s Championship. Too many women in the NXT Women’s division have their sights on Mandy Rose. With the pressure on her, will she be able to overcome competitors coming at her from all sides?

Several questions present themselves going into this week’s edition.

Cameron Grimes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa

Both men were part of the hard-fought ladder match at NXT Stand and Deliver for the North American Championship. After all, was said and done, Cameron Grimes was the one in position as champion. Grimes win comes after years on the brand and his commitment to growing on the brand. Fans have seen Grimes evolve from heel to sentimental fan favorite where success was within his grasp.

He has worked tirelessly to be given the opportunity as champion. For Sikoa, his rise on the brand has been meteoric. Like Grimes, Sikoa is a second-generation talent who has much to prove in capturing the title as Grimes has in holding it. There are still those that didn’t walk away as the champion from their NXT North American ladder match. Any one of those participants could play a factor in this matchup.

As always, the champion has a target on their backs when it comes to the title.

NXT Tag Titles Relinquished

As reported on WWE.com earlier this week, the NXT Tag Team Titles have been relinquished. While we won’t discuss the reason behind that decision, we will touch upon what to potentially expect leading into this coming week as it pertains to the title. MSK was set to defend the titles against Grayson Waller and Sanga. Will Waller and Sanga demand to be named the NXT tag team champions by default?

It is likely as it would certainly fit the personality of Waller and how he has come across on-screen. However, several teams are likely to want to step into that position as champions. To the benefit of Waller and Sanga, Imperium has been moved to SmackDown. But we could see Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes step up, as do Grizzled Young Veterans, Legado del Fantasma, Creed Brothers, and the newly arrived Pretty Deadly.

With as many contenders for the titles presenting themselves, will a tournament or a fatal five-way present itself in deciding the new NXT Tag Team Champions?

Dakota Kai was costed the NXT Women’s tag team championship last week. She is seeing red and has all her attention focused on revenge. However, if that is the case, will her need to seek revenge cloud her judgment in this championship opportunity. For Mandy Rose, she has support behind her in Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin. Will Wendy Choo come to Kai’s aid now that Raquel Gonzalez (Rodriguez) has been moved to SmackDown?

If not Choo, then any number of women who feel as though Rose has cost them their chance to become a champion could support Kai. Io Shirai, Cora Jade, or Kay Lee Ray likely have unfinished business with Mandy Rose. Could this be the night after years on the brand, heel turns, NXT tag team championships, and Dusty Classic Cup wins that this is the night Dakota Kai becomes the NXT Women’s Champion?
