Earlier today, the latest episode of “Being the Elite” was released. During the episode in question, the news was unveiled regarding the Casino Battle Royale, which will take place on the Buy-In pre-show of AEW Double or Nothing. A new competitor was announced: the half-man, half-dinosaur high-flyer, Luchasaurus!

Fans may know Luchasaurus best from his work across different independent promotions, specifically House of Hardcore and Bar Wrestling. Despite standing at an imposing six feet, five inches, the grappler seemingly from the age of the dinosaurs possesses surprising agility. Check our Indie Spotlight Watch on Luchasaurus, by ProWrestlingPost’s own Sonal Lad, to learn more.

The currently announced competitors for the Casino Battle Royale are as follows: Sonny Kiss, Brandon Cutler, Ace Romero, Glacier, Brian Pillman Jr., Sunny Daze, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Joey Janela, Dustin Thomas, Billy Gunn, Jimmy Havoc, Michael Nakazawa, Jungle Boy, Isiah Kassidy, Marq Queen, and Luchasaurus. This leaves five spots to be announced heading into Double or Nothing.

Sutter’s Synopsis: With the announcement of Luchasaurus, the landscape of the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing has become that much more interesting. Anyone that has kept up with this half-man, half-dinosaur’s work in the ring will attest to the ability he possesses. Though he has a presence, as mentioned earlier, he isn’t shy about leaving his feet and showcasing the lucha libre style. In other words, he is a favorite to win this match.

This announcement leaves a number of questions open, though. Perhaps the most obvious is, who else will take part in the Casino Battle Royale? Given that Double or Nothing is only a few days away, we are likely to learn more before long. For fans that believe their picks are safe, the inclusion of Luchasaurus may be grounds for second-guessing. The talent involved in this match is nothing short of eclectic.
