#NEWS: 205 Live to Fall Under ‘NXT Umbrella’ Forward

In an interview conducted with Newsweek, EVP Triple H addressed a number of different topics specifically tied to 205 Live and NXT. Among the topics discussed NXT. However, we asked specifically about rosters moving to NXT, Triple H shared that it will allow for more freedom amongst the rosters.

Yeah, I think you’ll see that RAW will become very much distinctly its own brand as well as SmackDown on Fox. And NXT will be it’s own. The ability, as time moves on, for people to move from RAW to SmackDown, and NXT to RAW or SmackDown, but also RAW or SmackDown to NXT.

NXT UK will sit under that NXT banner as well, probably 205 to breathing some life into it a little bit. That creates three distinct brands that talent, over the course of their career – which hopefully is long – where they can migrate from one to the other and be reinvigorated and have fresh starts and have longer, more meaningful and lucrative careers while staying within the same company.

When asked specifically about 205 Live what the decision would be for this particular brand moving forward, Triple H shared the following about them falling under the NXT umbrella/banner.

You’ll start to see 205 begin to. I think it always existed as an island onto itself, a little bit, and it’s become lost in this limbo. You’ll begin to see it move more towards the NXT banner and the talent there. We have a lot of talent. For them to begin to compete either open against anyone or in the cruiserweight division, but have that title sit under the NXT brand is more meaningful. It creates more opportunities for more people.

Madison’s Mindset: The news of this taking place has from a fan’s perspective been a long time coming. By Triple H’s own admittance 205 Live often appeared as an island onto itself. By having the Cruiserweight championship now as part of NXT leaves it open for other opportunities as well on the brand and new potential matchups. Could we see the likes of Humberto Carrillo face his cousin Angel Garza? With this new move, it certainly appears as though that possibility is very likely to happen. Or could Roderick Strong contend and possibly challenge for the Cruiserweight Championship?
