Friday Night Smackdown for 1/31/20 (Usos/Reigns vs. Corbin/Ziggler/Roode)

This week’s edition of Friday Night Smackdown is also the first episode on the Road to WrestleMania. Smackdown is being called ‘Super’ this week. It takes place from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The reason for the Super edition is due to the upcoming Super Bowl on Fox. Roman Reigns makes his way out to the ring much to the delight of many in attendance. Cole spoke about how Reigns pulled double duty at the Royal Rumble. Whether it was in the Royal Rumble match or against King Corbin, he was busy. After Reigns comes to the ring his partners for late in the even are Jimmy and Jey Uso join him. The main event of the night features The Usos and Roman Reigns against Corbin, Ziggler, and Roode.

Corbin, Roode, and Ziggler then make their out interrupting The Bloodline. King Corbin then blames The Usos for his loss. We then get a look at when Reigns was handcuffed and had dog food poured all over him. Reigns addressed it saying they make a stipulation on the evening with the loser having to eat dog food. Corbin accepts and a table filled with canned dog food. Ziggler and Roode aren’t impressed with that decision made by Corbin. Its official as Reigns and the Usos will face Corbin, Roode, and Ziggler in a loser eats dog food match.

Heavy Machinery vs. Lucha House Party vs. John Morrison and The Miz vs. The Revival

After a commercial break, The Miz and Morrison make their way out while the remaining teams are waiting in the ring. Tucker and Wilder start off the match. Tucker locks in a bearhug and then tags in Otis. Dash breaks free and tags in Dawson. A tag is made by Gran Metalik and John Morrison tagged in as well. Morrison and Metalik certainly use an array of moves on one another. The Revival gets involved and Lucha House Party takes them out. Morrison hits a corkscrew on to the rest of the teams outside the ring.

Dorado and Morrison are working on each other. Lince Dorado takes out both members of Miz and Morrison. With Metalik took out he makes the tag to Otis. Tucker comes into the match and wipes out everyone. Morrison is caught by Otis who hits a splash in the corner of both men. Otis then hits a caterpillar and a double elbow on both men. As Tucker attempts to go for the compactor he’s taken out of the match. Gran Metalik then tags himself into the match. All hell has broken loose. Otis attempts a pin but Dawson hits a suplex on Lince Dorado. Wilder prevents a third consecutive moonsault. Miz hits the skull-crushing finale and tags in Morrison who hits the Starship Pain for the three count and the win.

Winners: The Miz and John Morrison

They will face The New Day for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team titles in a few weeks.

Otis and Tucker are stopped by Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. Tucker encourages Otis to ask Mandy Rose to go out with him next week but she says she has plans that night but not the following week….Valentine’s Day. Otis accepts and every guy in vicariously living their dreams through Otis.

A replay is shown of the beating that Daniel Bryan took at the Royal Rumble. We see how The Fiend eventually prevails. Bryan’s passion is shared through WWE on YouTube with him saying how he discussed his ‘boo-boos’ with his daughter.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville

A flashback of Halftime Heat in an empty arena match between Mankind and The Rock facing one another during the halftime of the Super Bowl.

Bliss and Cross await Rose and Deville coming to the ring. Before the bell rings, Deville and Rose attack Nikki and Alexa. Bliss and Deville take each other out and both Rose and Cross get involved. Rose brings the fight to Cross in the corner. Deville is tagged in and attempts to maintain the advantage.

Bliss then crawls to her corner and makes the tag to Nikki Cross. Cross comes in a house of fire taking out Deville and then hits a running bulldog on Mandy Rose. She climbs to the top turnbuckle but is then stopped by Sonya Deville. Nikki hits a neckbreaker and then hits Twisted Bliss on Rose for the three count and the win.

Winners: Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss

Intercontinental Championship

Braun Strowman vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (c)

Strowman awaits Nakamura in the ring who is accompanied by Cesaro and Sami Zayn. Nakamura is trying to use his striking and technical prowess to use on Strowman. The problem is Strowman’s strength is usually too much for Nakamura. Zayn and Cesaro both get involved in the match while the referee is being distracted. Nakamura works on the leg and knee of Strowman to work on his base. Strowman battles through it though. He then hip-tosses Nakamura and drives a huge forearm on the champion.

Strowman attempts a power slam but Nakamura hits a knee strike on the back of the head of the monster. Zayn pulls the turnbuckle off the exposed top corner and instead of Strowman’s head hitting it, Nakamura’s head does. Strowman then picks up Nakamura and hits a running power slam for the three count and the win.

Winner: AND NEW Intercontinental Champion Braun Strowman

This is the first championship win by the Monster among men in the WWE. Strowman holds the title in the ring proudly while Nakamura, Zayn, and Cesaro look on in disbelief on the rampway.

After a commercial break, Zayn talks about how what took place was an injustice and a crisis. While this is taking place, Elias is in the ring playing. Elias said he is set to perform so he wants to move things along. He then tells Zayn to continue but then continues to play. The two continue to bicker with Zayn being antagonized more. Elias continues to play and Zayn asks Cesaro to take care of this situation.

Cesaro comes out and Elias brings the fight to him right away. Elias sends Cesaro out who begins to head up the rampway.

Sheamus vs. Shorty G

Sheamus walks to the top of the rampway and is blasted from behind by Shorty G. During the commercial break, Sheamus had the advantage over Shorty G. A rolling senton by Sheamus on Shorty G on the outside takes place. Sheamus is in complete control against Shorty G. Shorty G then begins to attempt to fight back. He hits boots and elbows to Sheamus.

Shorty then climbs the top turnbuckle and hits a missile dropkick. A moonsault later but only for a count of two. Both men are slowly getting to their feet. Sheamus catches Shorty G with an Irish Curse backbreaker. He follows up with a brogue kick later and a three count.

Winner: Sheamus

Bayley comes out next with a smug look on her face. The champion proudly hoists up the women’s championship and shares that she is good. She says that there is something about her that makes good on all her promises. Bayley then says that Lacey Evans’ daughter has to look at a disappointment for a mother. She then says that Charlotte is going to challenge her at WrestleMania so she best just come out. However, she is interrupted by Naomi. She’s coming out with a rather unique helmet that resembles something Mustafa Ali would be sporting.

Naomi then says how she’s missed Smackdown. She talks about how Bayley is bragging about beating everyone but never beat her. Naomi then says the next chance she gets, she is going to…and Bayley blast her. The former champion then recovers and wipes out Bayley! With Naomi in the ring, The Uso’s music hits. Their paths cross and the brother’s Uce comes to the ring.

The Usos and Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode

The Usos are in the ring with Reigns awaiting the arrival of Roode, Corbin, and Ziggler. King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode come to the ring as the Usos and Reigns look on. Corbin and Jimmy Uso start off the match. Jey is tagged in as is Roode. Roode takes control of the match. After another commercial break, Roode continues to work on the shoulders and upper back of Jey Usos. Roode decks Jimmy knocking him off the apron.

Both men try to get to their own corners. Jey crawls while Ziggler is taken out. Corbin is tagged into the match and continues to beat down on Jey. Reigns is tagged into the match and continues to beat down on Corbin. Roman decks Ziggler and then is caught with a chokeslam by King Corbin. Corbin wipes out one of the Usos at ringside.

Back in the ring, Corbin continues to beatdown Reigns. However, a superkick and tope by Jey Uso takes out Ziggler. Reigns then rolls up Corbin in the middle of the ring who looks stunned.

Winners: Roman Reigns and The Usos

The Usos bring handcuffs and lock up Corbin who is then speared by Roman Reigns. Reigns and The Usos then use the handcuffs to hoist him over the top of a ring post. Each member of the winners toy with Corbin having him covered in dog food thrown on him. They each pose for a picture.
