ESW presents Mayhem at the McCarthy

Empire State Wrestling will debut in a second new location this Sunday as ESW presents Mayhem at the McCarthy in Batavia, N.Y. The event will feature many of ESW’s regulars, plus a meet and greet with a World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer.

“I’m excited to expand ESW’s footprint further with Mayhem at the McCarthy,” said ESW promoter Brett Stymus. “I think the Batavia fans are going to have a great time at this event after experiencing the best wrestling product based in all of Western New York.”

The main event match for Mayhem at the McCarthy will be ESW Heavyweight Champion “The Remix” Kevin Bennett defending the title against Chase Oliver. This title match comes at an interesting time for Bennett.

After losing and winning back the belt in May to Matt Cardona, Bennett tagged with his hired personal security for the night, Tito Oric, in June against “Invincible” Vince Valor and “Big Time” Bill Collier. Bennett was on the losing side of that match.

Thus, Oliver catches Bennett in his most vulnerable time since winning the title last year. Oliver is the product of the Cleveland, Ohio, independent wrestling scene who debuted in ESW earlier this year. He pulled off a victory in a scramble match in January, thus earning his nickname of “The Scramble God”.

After beating Bennett and Oric last month, Valor and Collier will team up again to fight for the ESW Tag Team Championship against the current titleholders, High Seas. Last month, High Seas defeated The Outrunners to extend their over one-year-long reign.

In a three-on-three tag team match, Edge of Hope members Mattick, Jeremiah Richter and Darren Crowe will face CXR and “Rock Star” Robby Vegas. In June, Richter defeated CXR’s Chael Connors in singles action, while Crowe lost to Vinnie Moon and was brutalized by his own faction members afterward. CXR’s T.J. Epixx faced “The Inspiration” Gregory Iron while Vegas scored the win over “The Good Looking God” Sebastian Braun on the same card.

Braun will look to bounce back against “Buckwild” Tommy K. Last month, Tommy K wrestled “Real One” Matt McCoy in a special pre-show match that showcased the two products of the Buffalo Wrestling Academy.

“My match on Sunday is going to be Hot! Why? Because the ladies can’t wait to see a real Handsome Devil,” Braun said. “Tommy K seems like quite a competitive opponent. However, all is told through looks and style, and I have him beat in that. The better man is gonna win Sunday, and that’s exactly what I plan to do.”

The leader of Edge of Hope Cerin Rahne will be in action. The last time Rahne wrestled in an ESW ring was in a pre-show match in May with his stablemates against Vegas, Tommy K and Tommy Seto. He will face To Infinity And Beyond’s Colin Delaney. After failing to capture the ESW Tag Team Championship with his partner Cheech in May, they uncharacteristically took their frustrations out on the referee after the match.

After besting Mambo Italiano last month, “The Holy Hand Grenade” James Sayga’s next opponent will be “The Investment” Price Purgold. This will be Purgold’s first match in ESW. He is also known for being in the stable Greed with Big Budget and Lotto who also debuted in ESW earlier this year.

Haley Dylan will look for her first victory in ESW when she faces “The Ballroom Blizten” Miley. Dylan took part in the first women’s triple threat match in ESW history last month, squaring off with “Courageous” Christina Marie and Catie Brite. Miley is a regular on the Ontario independent wrestling scene and will be making her ESW debut in the match.

Before the matches take place, there will be a special meet and greet featuring “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, courtesy of Heroes Hideout. The meet and greet will begin when doors open at 4 p.m.

The action at the McCarthy Ice Arena will start at 5 p.m. Pre-sale tickets options are available at ESWTIX.COM. Front and second row tickets are sold out. All ticket price options rise by $5 at the door.
